Term 1

In term 1, we had Ms. Quaid for English. We looked at poetry for the term. We studied poems by Irish authors such as 'This moment' and 'Child of our time' by Eavan Boland, 'Nessa' and 'The difficulty that is marriage' by Paul Durcan and 'A constable calls' and 'A call' by Seamus Heaney. We answered questions on the poems and gave our opinions on which poem was our favourite by that author. For our assessment, we had to make a powerpoint presentation on our favorite Irish poet and give a background information on them.

Term 2

In term 2, we had Mr. McCormack for English. We looked at short stories and speeches. For our short stories, We had five headings to follow, essentially meaning five paragraphs,

English Debate speech

We also looked at speeches in this class. We were put in groups and we had to make a speech regarding the question 'Covid 19 has proven that Ireland is a a just country'. We were told if we were proposed or opposed to the motion. Here is a snippet of our speech.

Term 3

In this term, i had Mr Finn for English. In this term we looked at Poetry. We differentiated between a Shakespearean and Petrarchan sonnet. We also learned the steps of writing both sonnets. We then had to write our own sonnet.
