8P5-  Embroidery

Using the embroidery machine, I created a butterfly embroidered on a flannel shirt because I wanted to embroider something, so I decided on a flannel and then choose a butterfly design. I did this by and my shirt to the hoop and then choosing my design and uploading it on the machine and starting the machine.

During this process, I learned how to use an embroidery machine and how to attach the fabric to a hoop. I learned this by watching tutorials and following them on how to do these things.

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to creative communicator because I used my tools and creatively expressed that I like butterflies and flannel shirts.

A challenge I overcame on this project was the thread kept splitting when I was trying to embroider the shirt. I was able to do it by accidentally breaking the needles and finding it was bent. So I replaced the needle and the problem was fixed.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change what I choose to embroider on my shirt. The reason why I would change it is because I would like to try to branch out on the design and not choose something so basic.

Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the digital multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School.  My project connects to careers in embroidery machine operator.
