Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team? In a team with Sophie and Liam.
What materials will you need for your project? A robot.
What is your plan to create in this project? Multiple codes for different robots.
What unique qualities will your project have? A robot will write Liam.
Robot writing Liam.
Bolt doing a countdown and flashing colors.
Day 1- Wrote my list of 25 and we messed around with the robot.
Day 2- Made the iRobot go in a square.
Day 3- Made a bolt go in a square.
Day 4- We used dash to launch a tire.
Day 5- Started coding a robot.
Day 6- We wrote a name with the robot.
Day 7- We used a Sphereo mini and made shapes.
Day 8- We used a bolt to made a countdown and flash colors.
Shpereo mini going in a square.
Tire being launched.
Using robots, I created a code that flashes colors after a countdown because it sounded like the most fun challenge to do since you could choose whatever colors you want.
During this process, I learned how to put a pause in my code and a loop to make the colors keep changing. This made it so the colors showed more than once.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Digital Citizen because I used a website correctly and safely.
A challenge I overcame on this project was figuring out how to make the countdown go slower. I was able to do it by adding a pause between numbers. Another challenge in getting the colors to also show slower.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way it moved at the start. The reason why I would change it is because it only went forward and could've made a cool pattern.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in coding and making robots do things.
