Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working with my friend Levi.
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need lots of cardboard, tinfoil, a Makey Makey, crocodile clips, and a chromebook.
What is your plan to create in this project?
My plan is to make a drumset with cardboard. All of the drum heads will be coated with tinfoil so that they can send electricity to the Makey Makey and make noise.
What unique qualities will your project have?
This was entirely my idea. I don't think that this has ever been attempted before.
This is a video of me editing the compilation.
This video explains how the drumset works and shows how to play it. Hope you like it!
Using a Makey Makey, cardboard, and tinfoil, I created a drumset. I created a drumset because I thought it was a new idea that was never done before. I also thought that it was an innovative idea and a cool thought to bring to life.
During this process, I learned how to set up timelapses. I also learned how to conduct electricity from my body to another device. These are some pretty useful skills to have.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because this was entirely my idea. My project also connects to Global Collaborator because I published a video for the whole world to see.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting my bass pedal to work correctly. I was able to do it by reprogramming the keyboard button that it was connected to. This allowed it to work correctly, but I ran out of buttons to program the ride cymbal to.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how I programmed the ride cymbal. The reason why I would change it is because it did not work. I feel that I could have made it work, but I ran out of time.
