Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By myself.
What materials will you need for your project?
A MicroBit, a computer with programming software, music, crocodile clips, and speakers.
What is your plan to create in this project?
A juke box that lets you select songs.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will feature 4 well known songs, but they will be small snippets, as to avoid copyright infringement.
Disclaimer: The simulation for the jukebox was different than the final product. With the final product, it has tied all of the notes together, whereas in the simulation, all of the notes were articulated. Sadly, I cannot fix this problem, so some of them don't even sound like the real song. Still, I hope that you like it.
House of The Rising Sun
Gonna Fly Now
Funky Town
Fur Elise
Using a Micro:bit, I created a jukebox because I wanted to get better at coding with blocks. This is similar to the one that I made last year, but I mainly focused on the jukebox part of it. Last year, I did as much as I could with a Micro:bit.
During this process, I was going to learn how to make a list with JavaScript. I regret to tell you that I did not have the time nor skill to do this. Though, I did learn how to use block coding to program songs.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I had to design a jukebox using my ideas. My project also connects to Global Collaborator because I published a video for the whole world about my jukebox to see.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the sound recordings on the website. I solved this problem by watching a YouTube tutorial on how to put sound clips into a Google Site. As you can see, the problem is solved.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how many songs I put on the jukebox. The reason why I would change it is because I did not do as many songs as I planned to do. I was originally planning to do 10 songs.
