Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working in a team of 3 with friends Zach and Jace.
What materials will you need for your project?
We will need cardboard, glue, and tinfoil.
What is your plan to create in this project?
A Plinko game.
What unique qualities will your project have?
Our project will use a tinfoil ball, tinfoil pegs, and a points system.
This is a picture of Zach and Jace helping tape together the body of the Plinko.
This is me poking holes in the cardboard of popsicle sticks.
This is a picture of the old Plinko board. It was taking too long to make though, so we decided to start over with a more sturdy foundation and bigger popsicle sticks.
This is a picture of the basic outline of the project.
In this picture, you can see that we have added a few extra features to the Plinko game.
Using cardboard, I created a Plinko game. We chose Plinko because we agreed to randomly choose an idea on our list of ideas using a 10-sided dice simulator. We landed on Number 9, which was Plinko.
During this process, I learned how to work in a team. I also learned how to make a structure out of cardboard. Finally, I learned how to sucessfully turn in a project on time.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I used cardboard to make an innovative game that works successfully. My project also ties to Global Collaborator because I am taking pictures of my project and sharing them with the world on my website. Finally, my project ties to Empowered Learner because we set a goal and knew when and how to accomplish it.
A challenge I overcame on this project was making our game work. I was able to do it by putting clear plastic in the cardboard so the ball would not fall out. Finally, we made the game work by stabilizing the popsicle sticks.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the amount of pictures that I took. The reason why I would change it is because I took lots of unnecessary pictures. Another reason is that I took most of the pictures and did not appear in many of them.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Construction Trades CTE program at Hastings High School because I used cardboard to make something. My project connects to careers in construction.
This is a video of how our team made the Plinko game. Plinko is a game based on luck in which you drop a ball into the board and it bounces off of pegs. When it gets to the bottom, the ball rolls into a slot which shows which reward you get. We made it with a cardboard box, popsicle sticks, and tape.
