Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I wil be working by myself.
What materials will you need for your project?
Cardboard, air dry clay, some paint, a hot glue gun, some twine, and a wooden skewer.
What is your plan to create in this project?
A model of the Titanic.
What unique qualities will your project have?
The amount of time and effort that I put into this project.
Day 1:
I created my new digital portfolio page.
Day 2:
I cut out part of the hull and started hot glueing it together.
Day 3:
Cut out some more pieces and glued them on.
Day 4:
Poked holes in the sides, and cut out pieces to represent cabins.
Day 5:
Over the weekend, I added air dry clay and painted the first layer of black paint. Today, I added the second layer of black paint and the first layer of white paint.
Day 6:
Last night, I painted the last parts of the boat, and then today I added the poles and twine to the model. After that, I tried to film the boat in front of the green screen. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to use the green screen effects.
Day 7:
Finished my project and took my final video.
Using cardboard, air dry clay, some paint, a hot glue gun, some twine, and a wooden skewer, I created a rough model of the Titanic. I created this, because I have always been fascinated at the story of how the Titanic sunk. After the school year ends, I intend on taking this project to the Barry County Fair to have it judged.
During this process, I realised that I could use a spray-on hardener on my boat. This way, the boat was shiny, a little more durable, and waterproof. I found this item at a Hobby Lobby.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I blended an idea and a picture into one, creating a strategical model of the Titanic.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the green screen. I have never used a green screen, so it was a first for me. However, I didn't have enough time to figure out how to use it. So instead, I filmed my video regularly.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the neatness of he words "Titanic" inscribed on the hull. The reason why I would change it, is because I just quickly scribbled on the name. Instead, I might have printed out a template, traced it, and then painted it.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineereing Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to the Engineereing Design CTE program at Hastings High School because I applied my knowledge of the Titanic and my creativity to create a model of the ship.
My project connects to careers in Architectual model making. Generally, the jobs consists of making model that are used in film industries. My project connects to this career because I created a model that I later filmed. This job pays an average hourly pay of $27 dollars per hour.
This is my final video! I hope you enjoy!
