Day 1:
Today, I started coding. I have decided to make Dash run in a race.
Day 2:
All of my coding was lost, so I had to start all over again.
Day 3:
I am just working out all of the kinks, and pinpointing my exact route.
Day 4:
I am having trouble with the battery usage. So I am trying to figure out how to fix it.
Day 5:
Today, I was attempting to film my Dash, but it continuously turned off.
Day 6:
I wrapped up my digital portfolio and filmed my video.
Using a Dash robot and my I-pad, I created a code for my Dash. I made this code because I had Dash robots in my elementary school. Since I had already learned and mastered most of the Dash's coding skills, I thought it would be fun to try out the Dash again.
During this process, I learned how to replace a Dash's battery. While I didn't replace the battery, I still learned how to so I could possibly replace one in the future. I might, however, replace a Dash battery for my next project.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational Thinker. My project ties to Computational Thinker because I created a code where I added in real life problems into my code and solved them.
A challenge I overcame on this project was losing my code. When I lost my code, I lost an entire day worth of programming. I was able to overcome it by reciting most of the code off of my memory.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the course. The reason why I would change it is because it was originally going to be a basketball game. However, the shooter that attaches to the Dash had a piece missing.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programmimg CTE program at Hastings High School. my project connects to this CTE program because I programmed a robot to move and make noises.
My project connects to careers in computer programming because I programmed a robot to move as I program it to. A good job based on my project, is a controls engineer. Their job is to program the control system for their robot. Their average salary is around $100,000 per year.
This is how my Dash robot completed his race. He broke a record of 1:17 with 1:02 seconds. I hope you enjoy!
