Day 1:
Today I brainstormed ideas, and outlined my sketch.
Day 2:
I got my canvas, cut out my magazine pictures, and glued on some pictures.
Day 3:
I continued working on the mane.
Day 4:
I finished and painted my project.
Using a magazine, an old canvas, some paint, and a glue stick, I created a Lion magazine portrait. I created this portrait because I had some old magazines that I wanted to use. The reason that I chose the portrait of a lion, is because the lion symbolizes my family crest.
During this process, I learned that almost 400 million tons of paper is produced every year. Doing some quick math, 400 million times 2,204 is around 881 billion lbs of paper. And if around 500 pieces of paper make up one pound, that means that almost 441 trillion pieces of paper is produced every year! That's a lot!
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer. My project ties to this standard because I had to design a plan to cast shadows and blend the colors of the pieces of magazine.
A challenge I overcame on this project was forgetting my magazines in my school locker. Earlier that day, when I was working on my project at school, I forgot to put the magazine in my backpack, so I forgot about them. I was able to search around my room, and found some more magazines.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the size of the mane. The reason why I would change it is because I felt that I didn't create the mane evenly. While a real lions mane would not be even, I think that it would make the artwork feel more appealing.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to this CTE program because I sketched a drawing of my artwork, I looked up common pictures of my model, and executed my artwork.
My project connects to careers in upcycling. My project connects to carrers in upcucling because my entire project is a recycled craft. The average upcycler make around 80,000 as an entrepreneur.
This is my final project in which I used an old canvas, a magazine, some paint, and a glue stick to make.
