The First Industrial Revolution used water and steam power to mechanize production. The Second used electric power to create mass production. ... Now a Fourth Industrial Revolution is building on the Third, the digital revolution that has been occurring since the middle of the last century.

STEM subjects are core to the 4th Industrial age, and jobs in STEM are remaining unfilled nationally in the UK and are predicted to remain so in the future as society embraces technology further.

At Hastings we promote STEM awareness through quality first teaching, extracurricular events, careers events and during personal development day activities.

Students have the opportunity to complete a CREST award in Science, and we work with local employers and other organisations in promoting STEM subjects and reducing gender stereotypes in STEM careers.
