Work Experience

If you have completed a VWEX online placement, please complete this short survey form

Work Experience Application Deadline is 16th February 2024- Please see Mrs. Dymond or Mr. Bonser if this is an issue.

Work Experience is highly valued at Hastings and we ensure that all Year 10 students complete a Work Experience placement in the summer term.

Unlike many other schools we encourage students to identify and arrange their own work experience placement as we feel this strongly develops their employability skills and confidence in applying for future employment and education opportunities. Work experience also provides opportunity to gain insights into specific careers students may be interested in. We support learners in identifying suitable placements where needed, and have good working relationships with a number of local employers who are keen to engage with students  and provide meaningful work placements.

Many organisations also offer virtual work experiences. We will support any pupil who identifies a suitable virtual work experience placement (more details below). These are publicised in weekly newsletters and via Google Classroom and offer bespoke insights into specific job roles and employment sectors.

Green application forms here (student and parent/carers to complete) and here (employer to complete) both need to be fully completed and submitted by Friday 16th February.

Before returning the form to school, the student must input their work experience details into the Connect App accessible through their Morrisby Account. In Morrisby, click on work experience and you will find a link to the app and online portal. You can use either method to record your work experience placement.

REED is  the UK's #1 jobs & recruitment site, featuring vacancies from over 25,000 recruiters a year, including private and public sector employers, leading recruitment agencies and consultants from REED's network of 350 offices across the UK, and around the world.

The REED Education VWEX package taps into the broad spectrum of the REED organisation workforce, and provides insights into various roles within a large employer. The focus of the VWEX package is to develop employability skills and appreciation of the demands of work an employee may face in place of a traditional work experience placement.
