AND A LOOK AT ORGANIC SHAPES & WARM/COOL COLORS
OBJECTIVE:
Each student will follow along with guided instructions/gif tutorial to create and complete their own Earth Day- inspired artwork, incorporating and practicing their lines to create organic shapes, using various warm/cool colors to create contrast with multiple media that allow for student choice, according to the accompanying rubric.
Day 1 >>>>>
Day 2>>>>>
Start with the Earth by drawing a CIRCLE in the center of your paper!
2. Add in some ORGANIC SHAPES on the inside of the circle to look like the continents, & Outline with a black marker/crayon!
<<<------------------------------------
------------------------------------>>>
3. Use the COOL COLORS (Blue, Green, and Purple) to add color to the Earth
Green--> LAND
Blues/Purple --> OCEAN
The Grass is NEVER too hot, even in the heat of summer. It is always cool to walk on.
The ocean is cooler, and can even have ice in it.
Grapes are just one example of a purple fruit that grows outside naturally and will never burn your throat if you eat it.
The Cool Colors often remind you of things that are COOL or Cold to the touch.
4. Use a lower case "t" and a large "x" to create a starburst effect in the background!
*Remember* not to "Criss-Cross" on top of your Earth
5. Outline those lines with a black crayon or marker.
6. Use the WARM COLORS, fill in the background to add contrast to our planet Earth!
7. Check for white spaces as you color, and once your background is all colored in- you're all finished!
Feel free to walk them through the different colors they see and the objects they see in those colors and whether or not they are safe to touch.
The Warm Colors
remind you of real life things that are actually HOT or WARM
The SUN often looks Yellow and Orange
LAVA from a Volcano is Red
Flames from Fire is Orange, Yellow, and Red
Students may color an Earth Day coloring page and watch the peep episode below if you want/ if there's time at the end of the class.
