A closer look at the Element of Art: Color
With a focus on COMPLEMENTARY COLOR PAIRS
OBJECTIVE:
Each student will create a New Year's-inspired artwork, in the style of POP ART and be able to identify and incorporate all 3 Complementary Color Pairs within their artwork, and using multiple media, according to the accompanying rubric.
Let's transform our line numbers into shapes and create bubble or block numbers!
Since they are Complementary Color Pairs, the colors enhance each other's vibrancy and make each other brighter!
They happen to pop up throughout nature often!
We are going to use the complementary colors:
Blue and Orange first!
Choose one of your "2" boxes (it could be either the top or bottom box) and there are two ways you can use the complementary colors within that box, as seen below.
Choose any box to add in the red and green complementary color pair, remember you can choose where to use green and red, background or inside the bubble number!
I'm choosing my #5 box to be my red and green box, remember we're doing 1 box at a time.
Choose any box to add in the yellow and purple complementary color pair, remember you can choose where to use yellow and purple, background or inside the bubble number!
I'm choosing my other #2 box to be my yellow and purple box, remember we're doing 1 box at a time.
My "0" box is the only box left, and I'm going to use BLUE and ORANGE, but flip the colors- orange will be my number color and this time blue will be my background color!
