Haunted House for Sale

In L.A., we spent some time working on Haunted House Real Estate Ads. We brainstormed nouns and adjectives to describe the house and the things inside, and we worked through the format of a real estate ad. This was definitely a favourite writing activity for most of the students in the class and we are excited for the finished product next week!

Typing Club

We continue to spend time each day practicing proper keyboarding skills. The students have access to the premium version of Typing Club and can utilize this program at home as well. They can use the link to the left, login and "sign in with google".

Math

XtraMath Daily Practice

XtraMath is our daily math fact practice. The students will progress through addition, subtraction, multiplication and division levels at their own rate.

Please click on the picture to the left to be directed to the XtraMath sign in page. I highly recommend that they use this site to practice their math facts at home. Mastery of their math facts will make learning more complex concepts a lot easier.

Mathletics

Mathletics is a comprehensive online learning tool with lessons and activities specifically aligned to the Alberta math curriculum.

Please have your child log in with google to take advantage of this program at home. Their username and password can be found on the first page of their agenda. I will assign activities that are align with objectives being taught in class, so this will be great practice!

Fitness

Our focus in PE this week continued to be on the benefits of physical fitness, along with personal growth in performing locomotor and non-locomotor skills. The students enjoyed going outside to play Captain's Orders and Last Man Standing. But with the weather getting colder we also spent some time doing fun PE activities in the classroom. Please click on the following links if you'd like to try some of these fun fitness activities at home:

Art

Haunted House Art

Our Haunted House art project turned out AMAZING! The students took their time, mixing colour slowly into their white paint, to create an effective glow from the moon in the sky. They then chose, cut and assembled their haunted house with broken, boarded-up and crooked windows and doors. Check out the final product here!
