Please check out our class blog to see your child's writing.

Word Work

This week the students worked through various activities on the r-controlled sound, spelled or and ar. You can view your child's work on Google Classroom.

Math

XtraMath Daily Practice

XtraMath is our daily math fact practice. The students should be on the subtraction level at this point.

If your child is still on addition, please have them practice these facts nightly.

Mathletics

Mathletics is a comprehensive online learning tool with lessons and activities specifically aligned to the Alberta math curriculum. Your child has been assigned activities that align to the lessons taught in class. Please have your child spend some time at home to complete these activities.

Jump Math

We returned to working through our Multiplication unit in math. The students were assessed on their week of online learning and then we spent the week practicing, reviewing and trying to master:

  • multiplying a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number

Kahoot

Extra practice with multiplication would be very beneficial. If you would like to challenge your child to a Kahoot game, please click on one of the links:

Social Studies

We began our new unit on Alberta: The Stories, Histories and People. We completed a KWL chart (reflecting what we know and what we want to know). We also learned some new vocabulary words, and began our study of the aboriginal people and their history.

P.E.

This week, our focus was to continue building our stamina during locomotor and non locomotor activities. We have been perfecting our crunches, planks and sit-ups by setting individual goals. We also played some of our favourite socially distanced games.

Art

Auroras

This week the students worked on a chalk pastel of Auroras. This tied in nicely with our Text Talk Thursday KidBlog post, where we read and answered comprehension questions about the book - Amazing Sights in the Sky: Auroras.

We also read the Inuit legend, Painted Skies by Carolyn Mallory. By using the colour wheel as a guide, we created the Northern Lights in a landscape scene. Make sure you check out the photo gallery for a picture of your child with their completed artwork.
