International Woman's Day

Girls Can Do Anything

To acknowledge International Woman's Day, we watched the book "Girls Can Do Anything" and spent some time creating cards for the special girls/women in our lives.

International Woman's Day is a day to commemorate the cultural, political and socioeconomic achievements of women. It is also a focal point in the women's rights movement.

Digital Art and Design

Jen Aranyi Inspired Art

This week the Grade 4 students had the opportunity to work with Mr. Maltais again and complete a digit art project inspired by Jen Aranyi. Jen Aranyi is a nature-loving artist and designer who enjoys creating vibrant and colourful watercolor art. She particularly likes painting the sky and mountain landscapes of photos she has taken herself. The students created their very own Jen Aranyi inspired art using digital tools.

Virtual Field Trip

Inside Education - Natural Resources Presentation

This week the Grade 4 students had the opportunity to participate in a virtual field trip offered by Inside Education. We met with Ms. Laura on a Google Meet to learn more about Natural Resources in Alberta. The presentation included information about the Natural Regions of Alberta, the process of extracting natural resources, and how we use natural resources for energy and projects. The students also discussed stewardship and how we can all work together to conserve natural resrouces.

Language Arts

KidBlog

This week we completed:

Weekend Update, Talk About it Tuesday - Kahoot VS Blooket, WeSearch Wednesday - Lens (concave and convex) and Text Talk Thursday - Johnny Appleseed.

Please check out our class blog to see your child's writing.

Limerick

This week we also worked on a type of poem called a limerick. A limerick has a strong rhythm and is often humorous. These poems originated in Ireland and follow a specific pattern. After learning about limericks and reading a variety of sample poems, the students worked on writing their own. They focused on including a certain amount of syllables in each line and following a rhyming pattern.

XtraMath is our daily math fact practice. The students should be on the multiplication level at this point.

If your child is still on addition or subtraction, please have them practice these facts nightly.
