Mindful Monsters

This week during our Mindful Monsters presentation, Mrs. Angela focused on what it feels like to be the "new kid" at school. She began the discussion by showing the Mind Yeti video called The New Kid: Listen. We then discussed how a new student would feel when we are kind to them and how it makes us feel to be kind. Mrs. Angela challenged the students to make an effort to specifically be kind to someone that day.

We also listened to Moody Cow by Kerry Lee MacLean and discussed how important it is to calm your mind. This was a review of the parts of the brain, specifically the guard dog, and learning how important it is to find out what works to calm our mind.

Plant Walk

As part of our "Plant Growth and Changes" unit in Science, the grade 4's headed outside for an outdoor exploration. We observed the different characteristics of plants based on their flowers, stems and leaves. We also looked at the diversity of plants growing in Centennial Park and along River Drive. The students really enjoyed this opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather and learn about the plants in our community.
