This week the students talked about how they can incorporate kindness into their everyday lives. Ms. Angela also talked about how we can listen better when our bodies are calm & focused. She had us practice a couple of deep breaths to get our minds in a calm place.

This week the students worked through various activities on the short e, short o and short i sound. We are using a digital program where the students are given assignments in Google Classroom. They wrote another short vowel quiz, which will posted in PowerSchool shortly.

XtraMath is our daily math fact practice. The students will progress through addition, subtraction, multiplication and division levels at their own rate.

Please click on the picture to the left to be directed to the XtraMath sign in page. I highly recommend that they use this site to practice their math facts at home. Mastery of their math facts will make learning more complex concepts a lot easier.

Mathletics is a comprehensive online learning tool with lessons and activities specifically aligned to the Alberta math curriculum.

Please have your child log in with google to take advantage of this program at home. Their username and password can be found on the first page of their agenda. I will assign activities that are align with objectives being taught in class, so this will be great practice!

We continued working on our Multiplication unit in math. The following outcomes were introduced and reviewed:

• multiplication practice (colour by multiplication)

• x2 and x3 flash card practice

We continued our Social Studies unit on the regions of Alberta this week. The outcomes we addressed are:

• Grassland (climate, vegetation, landforms and animals native to the region)

• Presentation of Natural Regions Slideshows

• Importance of preserving Alberta's provincial parks within the regions
