Year 3

Inspired by their historial text, Christina Balit's Escape from Pompeii, Year 3 documented the events from the story in their very own newspaper reports.

Pompeii’s Day of Death!

Beloved city of Pompeii is gone.

Evidence says that a dark, destroying fear has fallen onto the city of Pompeii. Yesterday morning, a part of that darkness had run around the city taking the people away all at once. The citizens were all over the place, running and screaming for help. Do you think the Gods don’t like Pompeii? One Pompeiian person said “the Gods are mad, cross and furious.”

On a calm day, the city was peaceful until a horrifying thing hit and struck the city. “It seems like an earthquake came again to the town,” a Pompeiian person spoke aloud. As the day carried on, everyone was shaking while the blanket of ash shaped like a cloud came. Everybody choked like they were sick.

After that happened, the rocks and the ash started to fill the air. No one could really breathe so everyone ran screaming and shouting as loud as a lion. A person from one of the tribes said “It was a nightmare more terrifying than any other one!”

Everybody thinks that the gods are angry with Pompeii and want to destroy it and terrify them. People think the gods expected more from Pompeii and the gods gave them a punishment.

Emperor Titus said he sent his legionaries to make sure everything is ok. If you or someone you know have seen this horrifying thing happen, please contact us if possible!

The Fires of Vesuvius!

Will Pompeii ever survive?

Experts believe that a disaster struck the glimmering, beautiful and bustling Roman town of Pompeii yesterday. Although details as to what happened are an enigma, descriptions are suggesting that Mount Vesuvius split open and released rapid rivers of red hot lava onto its uniformed citizens. Were the gods furious with Pompeii? “The day began as quiet as a sleeping baby then it was a nightmare.” one Pompeiian said as she urgently fled the town.

Despite the calm morning, an earthquake shook the ground like a shark stalking its unfortunate victim. The ground rumbled and grumbled, spooking many in the city. ‘A loud bang came from the mountain before black dust and smoke began licking the edge of the town.” Bethania, a citizen, was quoted as saying.

As the sun rose, a consuming, unstoppable and towering cloud of ash and dust went all over the amazing city of Pompeii. Incredibly, it gobbled poor Pompeii up in one single bite, like a prowling lion pouncing on its dinner. Without warning, the ash and dust covering the air choked many, causing those who have not left to flee the harbour for mountains surrounding the town. Yesterday, Stephinus Cullenous shared “It was a nightmare, like something straight from the abysmal, awful and most agonising parts of the underworld.”

Witnesses report that the gods did this because of the horrible disaster in the beautiful peaceful city of Pompeii. No one noticed and they didn’t think too much of it until the ground was shaking like a giant walking. Emperor Titus has said he will be sending a group of legionaries to support survivors of this incident. He also contributed a large amount of money to support the victims. If you were or someone you know saw the destruction of Pompeii then please contact us by letter as soon as possible.

Lousy lava looms over Pompeii.

Pompeii, amazingly obliterated.

Caesar of the Romans believes that vicious Vulcan turned peaceful Pompeii into a perilous, polarising plot at 12 o’clock yesterday. Although reports are still emerging, it seems that Mount Vesuvius burst open and vomited acidic, molten liquid onto its misfortunate citizens. “It was completely the wrong time!” Quantus of the Maximus tribe screamed as he fled the scene. Was Vulcan annoyed with Pompeii?

As the sun rose, a chunk of vibration shook the ground like a bull in a pottery shop. “A loud boom came from the mountain before black dust, and ash began to reach out its claws!” Bethania, a witness, reported. As doomsday went by, a billowing, obnoxious and immense column of death wept over the great town of Pompeii. Without warning, it had snatched the town from the face the Earth, like the grim reaper killing its prey. After that, the ash filling the air choked many who had not yet been able to flee.

“It’s probably something from the worst part of the underworld!” wailed another witness, Cullenous. Will Pompeii ever rebuild? Mysteriously, it looks like both Pompeii and Herculaneum are turned to ancient history. Many are sad and devastated for the lonely people of Pompeii.

The reports have stopped, and the town is as quiet as a graveyard. Why did this happen? Why were the gods angry? Why was this the case? Please contact us by letter.
