Year 1

Year 1 have been exploring The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister.

The children told the story in their own words for their written outcome.

Ivy - Savoy

One day, there lived a shiny rainbow fish who lived in the deep blue sea. Then a little blue fish asked for a shimmery scale. The rainbow fish said no! The little blue fish felt sad.

Next, the rainbow fish felt lonely. After that, the disappointed rainbow fish went to see the wise octopus. The octopus told the rainbow fish to give away one of his sparkly scales to the little blue fish.

Finally, the rainbow fish gave a sparkly scale to the little blue fish. The rainbow fish felt content because the little blue fish was happy and they became friends.

Maia - Globe

Once there was a beautiful rainbow fish who lived in a deep wide ocean. Then a little blue fish said, “Rainbow fish, can I have a scale?” but the rainbow fish said no.

After that, the sad rainbow fish had no friends at all. Then the rainbow fish went to see the wise octopus for advice.

“Rainbow fish, please don’t be angry at me. I just want one scale!”. So, the rainbow fish shared her scale with the little blue fish. Then the rainbow fish played with her new friends.

Sophie - Old Vic

One day, there was a beautiful, sparkly glowing rainbow fish who lived under the deep blue sea. Then a little blue fish, who asked the rainbow fish for a scale. The rainbow fish said no.

Next, the beautiful, sparkly, glowing rainbow fish went to see the creepy octopus. The octopus told them to give a sparkly scale to the little blue fish they had met in the ocean. Finally, the beautiful rainbow fish shared a scale with his friends. He was happy because he found how to be happy.
