To ensure the health of our students and staff, if your child is sick or ill with any of the following symptoms (temperature greater than or equal to 100.4 degrees, feverish or has chills, feeling of tiredness, shortness of breath or trouble breathing, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea) or just does not seem their normal healthy selves, it is imperative that you KEEP YOUR CHILD(REN) HOME FROM SCHOOL.
Your child should be assessed by a healthcare provider if these symptoms persist. Your building School Nurses are here to assist with questions and form a plan for your child(ren) to return when they are healthy enough to do so.

In order to address the frequently asked questions that our nurses receive regarding illness protocols, the following is a non-exhaustive overview of the guidelines created in conjunction with the Illinois State Board of Education.
It is important that you keep your child(ren) home if they are sick. PLEASE keep communication ongoing with your school nurse!
The following guidelines apply to all illnesses:
Upon return from an illness, students should be:
Fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
NOT experiencing vomiting or diarrhea for at least 24 hours.
Symptom improvement (not excessively coughing, sneezing, etc.) and without the help of medication.
Any illness requiring an antibiotic is given a full 24 hours to start the treatment before returning.
A doctor’s note is required for absences to remain excused after 4 or more consecutive days absent.
