Please make sure to ask your child’s physician for an updated Seizure Action Plan at every yearly visit. A copy of this should be turned into the school nurse each school year.
A Medication Authorization form is linked here. The physician & parent/guardian must sign one for each prescription medication. Parent signature required for each over the counter medication.
Your school nurse must have emergency medications on hand for your student.
Epilepsy is a common seizure disorder of the brain that causes recurring seizures. Epilepsy affects people of all ages, but children and older adults are more likely to have epilepsy. Seizures are the main sign of epilepsy and most people can control this with treatment. Some seizures can look like staring spells while other seizures can cause a person to collapse, stiffen or shake, and become unaware of what’s going on around them. Many times, the cause is unknown.
