PARENT MESSAGE
At Brock, our school vision is “Through Curiosity, Compassion and Courage, we strive to build meaningful connections and become our best selves.” Brock is focused on building strong connections and a positive school community that prioritizes safety and inclusivity for all students. We are dedicated to delivering education programs that connect students to their interests, support student needs, enhance critical and creative thinking, and inspire students to strive to become their best selves! Brock Secondary has many academic opportunities to offer students including Hockey, Aquatics, Dance and the Health Science Academies. Brock also works hard to connect our students to the diverse SD73 Trades and Transition opportunities.
We are committed to ensuring that students' future opportunities are well-supported and well-planned during their secondary school years. Course selections are integral to designing an education program that enables students to become their best selves and attain greater future opportunities.
SCHOOL TIMETABLE
Students on a regular academic program will take a total of eight full-course equivalents each year, four each semester. The first semester runs from the beginning of September to the end of January and the second semester runs from early February to the end of June.
For students enrolled in a Hockey or Aquatic Academy program, students have 2 of their academy courses on a linear timetable. Students in Hockey and Aquatics will have their academy courses every 2nd day for 2 consecutive blocks. Students will also take 2 academic courses on a linear timetable. These 2 academic courses are pre-determined depending on the student's grade level. Please review our Academy programs to find additional information on the pre-determined academic courses that are connected to the Hockey and Aquatics Academy programs.
Students in the Health Sciences Academy attend the program in Semester 1. Students must apply to this program through their Career Coordinator. For more information please click this link.

COURSE SELECTIONS
We hope that the course descriptions found on this website will help you make wise decisions. Trying to offer students as much choice as possible is a challenge. Even though we strive to provide a wide variety of coursework, some courses can be offered only if demand is sufficient, and teachers are available; consequently, not all courses described in this booklet may be offered.
We encourage you to read the course write-ups carefully.
Each student will be required to complete the course selection process.
Your choice of electives should be based on your interests, abilities, past school achievements, and educational plans.
Language, math and science admission requirements for post-secondary education need to be considered carefully when selecting courses.
Students, parents, and guardians are always welcome to discuss course selections and other concerns with a counsellor.
It is the responsibility of students and parents to ensure that course selections meet the unique admission requirements of every institution they are considering attending. *It is important to plan your courses with thought and consideration. The courses you select during high school will provide opportunities for future vocational and educational choices. Students should select courses and programs that will enable them to meet their goals. Students and parents/guardians are encouraged to discuss their educational choices with both counsellors and teachers. *
COURSE CHANGES
We hope that you will choose your elective courses carefully. We expect that once students have made their choices, they need to be prepared to complete their courses. Every student is given as much opportunity as possible to select a suitable course program. Once the final selection is made, the student is committed and expected to complete the course. Only under special circumstances may a student be permitted to change a course. Your counsellor may consider a request for a course change if this is made early in the semester; however, these changes are dependent on available spaces in classes. Some classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrolment. A change may ONLY be arranged by the student’s counsellor and with the approval of the administration and parents/guardians.
