My filmmaking intentions as an editor were to take an approach that would mainly utilize sound, setting and environment rather than techniques such as jump-scares. I analysed different horror films such as 28 Days Later by Danny Boyle and noticed that colour grading plays a big part in creating the setting. Since we were making a horror film, some of the vital techniques we had to use were lighting and the environment. We decided as a group to film the scary parts of our film in dark lighting. As an editor, I thought it wasn't enough, so I took inspiration from 28 days later and added colour grading along with a flicker effect which helped create a dark, scary atmosphere. Another thing that was vital to our film was the sound. Our Director helped create the music for us, and I decided to use the music during clips that required tension. I made sure to only put it in clips where it was necessary. The music along with the dark lighting, colour grading and flickering lights adds a dark, scary setting to this film and fits in with the theme of insanity which is the main focal point of Missing.
