Filmmakers intentions in chosen filmmaking role (500 words max)
When I was first brainstorming ideas for this film, I felt that my main idea for subjectivity was to create a change in emotion, one noticeable enough for the audience, and that is where I came up with the thoughts of changing from connected to detached, as happens in “Stitched Hearts”. This film holds a lot of meaning to me, and through art directing I wanted to convey the passage of time and how the set and actions of the characters are able to show the change in emotion. As the film’s director, I used the art of set design to appropriately show the change in time and how the character has grown up and grown apart from the stuffed toy. By putting the audience in the point of view of the stuffed toy, I was able to show how the stuffed toy feels in these situations, and how it can do nothing but watch as this unrequited love between life-long friends forms.
