Hello ODE students and families! My name is Tammylynn Humphreys and I’m one of the ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) teachers at Ocean Drive Elementary. I have been teaching grades K - 5 ESOL at ODE for the last eight years but previously taught reading at North Myrtle Beach Middle and adult education ESOL classes in the North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach areas prior to that. I’ve been teaching ELs (English Learners) in some capacity for about twenty years and wouldn’t change a thing!
A little about me: I have a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Science in Education, and certification to teach high school English, Middle Level Language Arts and English as a Second Language. I am a passionate advocate for English Learners and their families. I appreciate diversity, culture and traditions and love what they add to our school and community.
Although I am originally from New York, my grandparents immigrated to the United States from Italy, Poland and Russia. My husband and I decided to move south in 2001 and never looked back! I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Adam, for 29 years and have four children: Victoria is 25 and Dylan is 22 and both have graduated from college. Connor is 17 and Cole is 15 and both are in high school. Children mean everything to me, and that’s one of the many reasons why my husband and I are also foster parents.
We like to vacation in Long Beach Island, New Jersey by relaxing on the beach, and eating ice cream every night! Some of my hobbies include reading, walking on the beach, do-it-yourself (DIY) projects, painting and coloring. I am looking forward to another amazing year at ODE!
