Robin Dixon

Diane Kimsey is a lifelong resident of Topeka, Kansas. After graduating from the University of Washburn Kimsey started her teaching journey with Topeka Public Schools. Throughout her career, Kimsey has taught students in various roles; classroom, computer lab, and as a summer school teacher. Currently, Kimsey teaches sophomores, juniors and seniors at Topeka Center for Advanced Learning and Careers the Teaching Pathway program. Additionally, Kimsey is a district math consulting teacher, responsible for developing and implementing curriculum and instruction, and professional development. Kimsey’s dedication to education is further reinforced by her master’s degree in education leadership from Washburn University. As a member of Educators Rising, Kimsey and her teaching partner, Robin Dixon have been recognized as top ten leaders in the nation for their contributions to the program. Their students have achieved regional, state and national recognition for their exceptional project-based learning competitions. Kimsey finds great fulfillment in seeing her high school students engaged in community service and teaching opportunities. Her students perform as teacher assistants and as lead teachers instructing robotics to elementary children. Kimsey has been honored with several awards & achievement recognitions during her tenure. Most recently Kimsey was named the district's high school teacher nominee for the Kansas Teacher of the Year for 2025 (the award is nearly a two year process). At the KTOY Region 2 banquet, Kimsey was chosen as a finalist. Teaching is more than a profession for Kimsey; it is a calling. She firmly believes she was meant to be an educator and feels grateful for the chance to positively impact her students' lives. Outside of school, Kimsey is the wife to Lewis of 30 years. Their daughter, Molly, brings joy to their lives. Kimsey extends appreciation to her parents for their support. Her family plays an essential role in her life and their presence has shaped the teacher she is today.

Robin Dixon has been in education for 35 years as an elementary and middle school teacher, instructional coach, and PreK-5 grade ELA/SS Consulting Teacher. Dixon received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Kansas, a Master of Science in  Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas, and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Washburn University.  Dixon is currently a Doctor of Education candidate at Kansas State University and will graduate in the summer of 2025. During her time in the classroom, she received several honors, including district secondary teacher of the year (2001), Kansas Teacher of the Year nominee (2001), District Master Teacher of the Year (2006), and Kansas Master Teacher (2007).
