Dr. Jim Persinger, Psychology Professor at Emporia State University, shares how pampering yourself is not the same thing as self-care. It is essential to follow the science and give to yourself first, so that you are better able to care for those you serve. When you take the time to improve your own energy, you are not being selfish.

About Dr. Jim Persinger

Dr. Persinger has been a special education teacher, infant/toddler coordinator, and school psychologist in Kansas schools, and was director of the School Psychology Program at ESU for 20 years. He is a recipient of the Roe R. Cross Distinguished Professorship, and is a Lifetime Achievement Honoree from the Kansas Association of School Psychologists. A prolific crisis interventionist and trainer, Dr. Persinger is co-founder of the School Mental Health Awareness Day at the Kansas Capitol, and is the Clinical Director of Region 5 of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
