In this research cycle 4, I will research about today’s situation of indigenous people in the world. I’m interested in Ainu issues in Japan, so I researched about their issue in research cycle 1 and cycle 3. And I also interested in other countries’ situation, such as First Nations in Canada and Maori people in the New Zealand / Aotearoa. I had a chance to know some about Maori and the New Zealand. I want to know about the differences of the policy of the governments. I don’t know how many indigenous people all over the world, so I also want to know about that, and where they live. I had no chance to do comparison of Japanese situation and other countries’, so that is interesting for me. I read many article says that Japanese government should change the position or attitude for Ainu or Ryukyu people. After the sign on the U.N. Declaration, Japanese government had not admit the definition of indigenous people, but in 2008, the position changed, but some people say that there are no differences and changes with before. I think there are lots of countries which have problem with its indigenous people, I want to know what kind of problem happens in the world.
