In this week, I researched about detention issues in Japan. I have already known about basic information about immigration detention center, but I researched it again. As new research for me, I tried to compare the state about an environment of detention center between which Japanese official site said and which US embassy said. I found there are more gap than I expected. Japanese official site said detainees can live with being respected as far as there are no problem about security, but US embassy said they have to obey rule every time, such as when you write a letter, buy snack, and take a shower. I was surprised at this gap. And I am wondering why US embassy mentions about Japanese immigration detention.
I learned there are big gap between Japanese official site and US embassy. I think Japanese official site are trying to make better image about detention situation, but they have many fugue words. When you look at a glance, it looks like so kind word, but it contains various means and actually it is not so kind as you feel for the first time. I know this is usual way when government talk about difficult things like refugees.
I want to know the gap between governmental policies about immigration detention center between actual situations at the immigration detention center. And I want to meet the supporters who goes to immigration detention and knows about actual situations.
