This time, I picked up Greenland issue. I didn’t know where Greenland is and that indigenous people live in Greenland. So I picked up the situation. In the first page, I speak about what indigenous people are. Because the last presentation, I researched about Ainu people, and then I asked that what indigenous means, so this time I started my presentation with the meaning of indigenous people. It seemed my audiences were surprised by that 5% of world’s population is said to be indigenous people, furthermore the number is excluded African tribes and indigenous people. It is slight difficult to define invader in African countries, and it is bit complicated. I used Cobo’s 4 principles. And in the second part, I talked about the Greenland situation. Greenland has a highest indigenous population rate in the world. I didn’t use in the presentation, but it was interesting for me to know about the life in Greenland. Greenland is far from Denmark, so that was natural thing for my audiences that indigenous people in Greenland is Eskimo/Inuit people came from Canada. And it was surprise for them that sometimes Vikings came to the land. It looks like similar situation in Hokkaido and Greenland, but they are completely different, so I wanted to talk about how people can live with other people. For Japanese thinking that issue is bit difficult, because we think most of residents in Japan are Japanese and other people are far from us. We have to change the idea.
