Research diary 2
I focused on problems of education for foreign children again. In this time, I researched about the current situation especially the number of registered foreigner in Japan and the problems for foreigners who live in Japan. For the first time, I found the graph which shows transition of foreigners in Japan. And I understood that there are 565,089 of general permanent residents, 399,106 of special permanent residents and 194,602 of permanent settlers at the time of 2010. It means that so many foreigners live in Japan with us.
However there are many foreigners, the system of education for them is not good. In some cases, their parents cannot understand Japanese, so they cannot also understand their children’s homework. For teachers, they don’t speak students’ mother tongue. So it is too hard for them to communicate with not only students but also children’s parents. And also, there are students who cannot keep up with classes because of language barrier. Finally, they chose to drop out of school. The reason why schools accept them to quit school is the system. Japanese government do not required to take compulsory education for foreigners in Japan.
Next problem is International school. Some of them who quit Japanese school try to go to international school. But problems come again! Firstly, school fees are too expensive. Secondly, at international school, they are not required to carry out a medical examination. In Japan, there are big gap between the current situation and the system. The system cannot keep up with situation. To solve this problem, it is necessary to find out the new system which is in the context of the actual situation.
It is good point to add the graph with color in my notebook. Next time, I want to try to make sentences shorter to understand easily.
