I have researched about more detailed information with the interview of individual Halfs. They were joining in the community which is for the Halfs, and these interviews were on the site. These interviews were planned for thinking about Halfs’ experiences and their identities. Two Halfs, Natalie Maya Willer who is photographer and Marcia Yumi Lise who is social researcher, have interests about the identities of Halfs such as looks, background of them and the position of them in the society. Especially, Natalie is interested in the looks of Halfs. It is because that people recognize Halfs with the looks, so in opposite, people so not notice that they are Halfs if they were look like totally foreigners such as their blond hair.
There were six Halfs who were interviewed. Half of them feel the gap between the society and themselves, especially have annoyed feelings when they are said like “you look like or not like Japanese, foreigner or the Half”. But in other hand, another half of them feel nice to be half and to have different multicultural ideas. Some interesting ideas for me were that Half is not totally Japanese and also another nationality so cannot feel like belonging anywhere but just belonging in the family. Two interviewees said these kinds of ideas. Also to be Half is like being outsider in everything, and it means very nice because Half can be join in every parts. Also one interviewee said that to be Half can be very international, and international-ness gives many advantages such as the impressions or new ideas more than to be monocultural-ness.
