This tool provides fast and flexible reordering of cameras without going through the hierarchy.
Select the cameras you want to re-index.
Position the scene camera so you have an overview of your selection.
(You can press [F] to focus the view port to your selection.)
In the inspector, select **Use Indexing Tool**.
Dragging in the scene, trace a path over your cameras from the initial index to the end.
The tool will re-index from the lowest index in your current selection. If you selected cameras with the indices `5, 8, 10, 20` for example, those cameras will become `5, 6, 7, 8`.
If you have a selection like `14, 15, 1` that you want to become `13, 14, 15`, currently it's best to use the [camera hierarchy](#the-camera-hierarchy) to modify camera `1` and then return to the indexing tool if required.
You can drag to reorder cameras via the list in the main project hierarchy. It's generally faster and less confusing to use the [camera indexing tool](#the-camera-indexing-tool).
You can enable 3D index labels via the [options toolbar](../../interface/options-toolbar).
