Values in Action (VIA)

Values in Action (VIA) is an important component of the CCE curriculum and a whole-school approach is adopted. VIA@FHSS is structured to give Fuhuanites exposure to community service in the expanding domains from self to the world, and the Service Learning (SL) approach provides equal emphasis on service outcomes and learning goals.

VIA@FHSS takes reference from Thomas Lickona’s theory of Character Education (Moral Knowing, Moral Feeling and Moral Action). It is undergirded by the school values of Respect and Service in support of holistic development. It aims to achieve the school vision of ‘Premier School, Serving Community’.

The school has introduced the Design Thinking approach in VIA with the aim to build empathy and deepen students’ understanding of clients' needs, ultimately developing human-centred designers in service learning. This is done through the various VIA lessons and service learning activities to reach out to the local community and client groups such as the elderly, those with special needs and the less privileged.
