WELCOME BACK TO PHYSICAL EDUCATION!
1) EXPECTATIONS: Follow this simple routine.
- Come into gymnasium changed and on time.
- Follow the warm-up of the day until timer expires.
- Attendance (during warm-up).
- Gather for a quick meeting as a class.
- Start activities…
2) GENERAL RULES IN THE GYMNASIUM
- SAFETY- Watch where you are moving to or what you are targeting.
- Benches are for sitting
- No food or drinks. BRING WATER!
- Consult list posted in gymnasium
- Whistle is king! (Stop everything, look at teacher and listen)
- Emergency of any kind
- Fire drills
- Lockdown drills
3) HOW DO YOU GRADE US?
YOU GET 3 GRADES IN Physical Education: on MOZAIK
1) Individual
2) Social
3) Knowledge of health and well-being.
Competency 1: to perform movement skills in different physical activity settings – This is a percentage grade on individual skills such as fitness tests, individual sport-specific skills (throwing, catching, moving, kicking, aiming), dance, juggling, stretching, yoga, individual sport skills or any other sequence of physical activities that you perform on your own.
Competency 2: to interact with others in different physical activity settings – This is a percentage grade based mainly on teacher observation of social skills in physical activities such as games, team sports and group drills or any sequence of activities in which the success of the outcome depends on the collaboration of two or more individuals. (Teamwork, cooperation, positive contribution, communication, collaboration, participation, compromising, sportsmanship, citizenship, striving for the common goal of the team…)
Competency 3: to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle – This is a percentage grade obtained from assignments throughout the semester. Topics of assignments include anatomy, nutrition, sleep, hygiene (includes regular use of clean PE uniform in PE class), the short and long term benefits of movement on mental health, well-being and a healthy life through active lifestyle choices for you and your community.
