Plant Manager Device
Please watch the following videos for inspiration for your machine.
Automatic Plant Manager
In this activity, you will be creating a plant management installation that will monitor the plant for temperature, humidity, and sunlight on a potted plant.
Sensors needed:
Light dependent resistor
Temperature and Humidity sensor (TinkerCAD projects should just use a temperature sensor)
Pushbutton to manually activate water valve.
Outputs needed:
Intermediate Level
LCD Display showing temperature, light level, humidity level(if applicable).
Servo motor (simulates a valve for water)
LED's representing too much/little light and temperature.
Advanced Level
LCD Display showing temperature, light level, humidity levelÂ
Stepper Motor (simulates a valve for water). For TinkerCAD projects, use 2 servos.
Piezobuzzer alarm for too much/little light and temperature.
Relay + DC Motor fan activated when temperature is too high.
Deliverables
For this project you are to keep a project log. It must include:
A Timesheet for all group members working on this project. A sample can be found here.
An engineering journal that chronicles the following: (please update daily)
When planning out this project what kinds of drawings and schematics did you use to plan the circuits and code?
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
What advice would you give the next students to try this project?
What real-world applications does this device have?
A final project video demonstrating your machine.
File all of these things in your ePortfolio. A public link to that will be submitted to d2L when you have completed the project.
