For this assignment each student will be a part of a team researching a different drivetrain. Those groups will present their findings about the following questions:

What are the advantages and disadvantages of your drivetrain in the following categories:

• Reliability

• Agility

• Number of motors / gearboxes

• Traction Power

• Powering the Drivetrain

• Cost

• What makes this drivetrain unique?

Your presentation should also present the following: (Section 1.4.1 in GM0 will help you out here)

• A CAD mockup of a basic version of this drivetrain.

  • A CAD library can be found on this blog page on the right sidebar.

• A video of the drivetrain in action either in a match or a demonstration.

  • Please have this video ready to present on your slides.

Groups:

• Tank Drive - 

  • Explain 4WD, 6WD, 8WD

  • Explain what a drop centre is.

• Mecanum Drive - 

  • Explain vectors of motion and how they made mecanums work.

• X Drive - 

  • Explain vectors of motion and how they made holonomics work.

  • Describe standard X drive vs Kiwi drive

• Tread Drive / Pneumatic Tires on Tank Drive - 

• H-Drive

  • Explain what drop centre is on H-drive

• Swerve Drive (almost never seen in FTC) - 

• West Coast Drive
