Researching Drivetrains
For this assignment each student will be a part of a team researching a different drivetrain. Those groups will present their findings about the following questions:
What are the advantages and disadvantages of your drivetrain in the following categories:
Reliability
Agility
Number of motors / gearboxes
Traction Power
Powering the Drivetrain
Cost
What makes this drivetrain unique?
Your presentation should also present the following: (Section 1.4.1 in GM0 will help you out here)
A CAD mockup of a basic version of this drivetrain.
A CAD library can be found on this blog page on the right sidebar.
A video of the drivetrain in action either in a match or a demonstration.
Please have this video ready to present on your slides.

Tank Drive -
Explain 4WD, 6WD, 8WD
Explain what a drop centre is.
Mecanum Drive -
Explain vectors of motion and how they made mecanums work.
X Drive -
Explain vectors of motion and how they made holonomics work.
Describe standard X drive vs Kiwi drive
Tread Drive / Pneumatic Tires on Tank Drive -
H-Drive
Explain what drop centre is on H-drive
Swerve Drive (almost never seen in FTC) -
West Coast Drive
