Step 3: Ideate

Determine the possible ways of solving your specific design problem

Identifying solutions involves brainstorming the possible ways of solving your specific design problem. Note that this step does not deal with any aspects of developing the solution. This step provides an opportunity to develop a lot of ideas very quickly.

Use the knowledge you gained in the Define phase to develop three (3) or more possible design solutions.

Note that your ideas for solutions do not need to be very detailed - you want them to be just detailed enough that you can compare the ideas. The detailed design will take place in a later step.

Assignment: Solution Identification

You will need to submit all of your sketches and notes that detail at least 3 possible design solutions. You can either take photos of them or scan them using NOTES on iPhone or a scan program like genius scan on an Android phone.

They may also be taken digitally on Docs (or another digital medium).

Submit this assignment to the ePortfolio entitled "Step 3: Identification of Possible Solutions."

Assignment: Solution Comparison

In a document in your ePortfolio answer: Which design did you pick and why? If you create a modified idea, include a new sketch.

Submit your document to theePortfolio entitled "Step 3: Selection of Best Solution".

This should be discussed with the teacher before moving forward to the modelling step.
