Engineering and designing innovative solutions to problems is at the heart of engineering as a discipline, but communicating it is an entirely different process altogether.
This project has three primary conceptual questions:
What is a cutting-edge technology that is in the process of being developed or has recently been released?
What is the problem solved by your cutting-edge technology?
What is the past and prospective future of that technology?
How can you effectively communicate about that topic, including communicating your research process?
Research and Exploration - Google Docs
Main Idea: What is a problem in the world that has been fixed by your chosen research exploration? Explain the problem in the world being solve by you research topic.
Investigate a historical design milestone of the past in building, graphics, fashion or transportation (e.g., the invention of the bicycle, aqueducts steam engines, corsets) that your problem is a part of.
Key Focus: Historical context, materials, and cultural relevance.
Study a current cutting-edge building, graphics, fashion or transportation design solution (e.g., electric cars, sustainable water maintenance ,autonomous vehicles, 3D printable fashion).
Key Focus: Technology, materials, and how cultural/global conditions have influenced its evolution.
Analyze the relationship between the historical and contemporary design solutions.
Consider:
How past innovations laid the foundation for current designs.
Environmental, ethical, and global factors driving modern changes.
Present your findings
Prepare a presentation of your research using one of the following formats:
Research paper with visuals.
Media presentation (e.g., PowerPoint, Canva, video).
Graphic illustrations or infographics.
Deliver a final presentation
