The Supporting Teachers at Regional and Rural Schools (STARRS) initiative has been established to provide support for Principals and Network Chairs for the ongoing attraction, retention and development of high-quality teachers. The STARRS initiative aims to help schools and networks working with newly appointed teachers of the Targeted Financial Incentive (TFI) program.
The STARRS initiative recognises that additional support is essential to attract, develop and retain suitable teachers. The initiative responds to the evidence that shows that applicants must be well informed and adequately prepared to adapt to changes in living and working circumstances; well-integrated into the local community; and provided with structured support and links to professional networks. These must be coupled with high quality ongoing professional learning and development, and opportunities for career progression.
STARRS funding and support is available to support schools with TFI teachers to relocate and integrate into their school and local community, to support their career progression, and encourage them to stay.
Please Note:
Teachers relocating to regional and rural areas may seek support to source available housing. See here for further information.
