Welcome back to Term 4.
I hope everyone had a relaxing break and it was pleasing to see that students returned to school eager to complete the year of learning. Term 4 is always full of exciting events and learning opportunities. In the coming weeks I look forward to welcoming our 2026 Kindergarten students with their orientation days.
Over the next month the P&C will be running two events with a Halloween Disco being held on Thursday 30 October and a Community Movie Night being held on Friday 14 November. My thanks to the P&C for their organisation and providing two fantastic opportunities for students and families to be involved. Please reach out to the committee if you are able to assist at either event.
WORLD TEACHERS DAY
Each year Australia celebrates World Teachers Day on the last Friday in October. This is a chance to celebrate and recognise our teachers for the incredible work they complete daily. Our teachers at Jasper Road go above and beyond to ensure students not only receive explicit instruction in the classroom, but opportunities are provided outside the walls.
This year the NSW Education Standard Authority are celebrating with the release of a ‘Gems Map’ so NSW schools and the broader community can celebrate their teachers. Their campaign invites the community to pin a gem to the NSW Teaching Gems Map, recognising a teacher, past or present, who has made a difference to their lives and school community.
BAND COME AND TRY NIGHT
Each year, the Band Committee holds a ‘Come and Try’ Night for students wishing to join the band the following year. While this is targeted at Year 2 students, any child in Years 3-6 in 2026 who wishes to find out more information is invited to attend. The night will begin with an information session so please be prompt for arrival so that you don’t miss out on important information.
NETBALL NSW
We are excited to announce the very popular After School Netball NSW program will continue this term. Sessions commence on Monday 7 November and run weekly for 5 weeks. This program is available for all ages with participants receiving a special merchandise pack. Parents are strongly encouraged to book in quickly at:
CRICKET BLAST
Does your child play cricket?
Would you like them to learn?
How about some extra batting or bowling practice?
Cricket season is upon us and we have partnered with Cricket Australia to offer a special 4 week after school program. Starting Week 5 next term, students will have the chance to learn from expert coaches. This program is available to all students K-6 with activities organised for varying abilities. Last year positions filled extremely quickly for this program so register now!
JERSEY DAY
WINNER!!!
Last term, 5/6N entered the Jersey Day competition where students had to design their own jersey. Jersey Day received thousands of entries and from this three were chosen to go to a community vote. After a weekend of voting and with your support Lucy (5/6N) was announced as one of the winners. The Jersey Day team have already been in contact and will be creating 20 'special editions' of her design.
Congratulations to Lucy and thanks to Mrs Cameron for providing this opportunity to her students.
SCHOOL MAINTENANCE
Over the last month a number of projects have started or been completed around the school.
The Walk and Wheel has seen the installation of new play components. These were created by Timber Creations especially for the area. We continue to provide interactive and safe play areas around the school.
The area near the flag poles was renewed with new artificial grass, seating and a storage area. We hope to use this area in 2026 for a reading program.
Grass and irrigation was laid near the mini soccer field increasing the area that students can play in. While only a small area, it has made the space far more useable.
Artificial Grass has been installed outside Camp Australia. This was funded by them and creates a fantastic outdoor space for their programs.
INTERNATIONAL TRIP
During Weeks 5 and 6, I have been asked to represent the Department of Education in China. I am honoured at being asked with only three Principals from around the state having been selected for this opportunity. My selection further highlights the fantastic work being achieved both in and out of the classrooms at Jasper Road. This two-week tour will showcase Jasper Road to the world and highlight the amazing learning opportunities in an Australian school. As a result of my tour, Ms Dunscombe (DP) will relieve in my absence. I look forward to sharing my stories upon my return.

School Uniform Reminder
At Jasper Road Public School the community reflects the shared values of pride, respect and belonging.
Wearing the school uniform each day helps students feel part of our school family, promotes school spirit, and supports a positive learning environment. It also makes it easier to identify students, helping to keep them safe both at school and in the wider community.
Thank you for supporting your child in wearing JRPS’s summer uniform every day!
Supporting sentence writing at home
On Wednesday 22 October, we were excited to offer a parent workshop focused on helping children develop strong sentence writing skills. This session provided practical strategies and simple activities for parents at home to support their child’s writing with confidence.
It was wonderful to see so many parents. Parents reported that the workshop was very informative and helpful. We hope to see even more parents attend our workshops in 2026.
Student Leadership in 2026
Many of our Year 5 students have been working exceptionally hard to develop their leadership skills in preparation for the important roles they hope to take on in 2026. Throughout this term, they have engaged in various activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, communication and responsibility.
As part of their leadership journey, the students are currently preparing a special project to present to students from Years 2 to 5. This presentation will showcase why they believe they are ready and worthy to be the leaders of our school next year. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to demonstrate their ideas, enthusiasm, and commitment to serving our school community.
We wish them the very best as they take these important steps forward and are confident they will do themselves, and our school, proud!
Attendance
As we start term 4, it is wonderful to see our students return and attendance be a priority. In week 1 we had 85% of our students with 100% attendance. A special mention to 1J, SH and SL who all had 100% attendance for the week. We would like to remind you that as the term gets busier, to try and arrange for appointments outside of school hours so that learning time is maximised and good habits are maintained.
Kinder Transition
A reminder that our Kinder Transition is starting soon. On Wednesday 5 November we invite our 2026 Kinder Parents to attend our information session from 6:00 to 7:30. Our sessions for students are on Thursday 13, 20 and 27 November from 9:30 - 10:30. During these sessions we invite our parents to stay for our information sessions on wellbeing, reading and mathematics. Looking forward to meeting our new students and their families.
Market Day
Year 6 are busily planning Market Day for Thursday 6 November. A last reminder that students will need to buy tokens through School Bytes by Monday 27 October and that money can be brought in for the White Elephant Stall. Sausage Sizzle and a drink on the day need to be purchased online through the Activity tab on School Bytes
Early Stage 1 - Kindergarten
Stage 1 - Years 1 & 2
Stage 2 - Year 3 & 4
Stage 3 - Years 5 & 6
Lost Property
There is an overwhelming amount of lost property in the school. While Mr. Warner previously spoke to children during assemblies, please ensure all items include jumpers, hats, lunch boxes, plastic containers and water bottles are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Please feel free to have a look at our trolley located near office building opposite the library.
At the end of Term 4, any lost property items without names will be thrown away.
Each fortnight we will send you instructions or a link to a "How to" guide from School Bytes. This fortnight is all about how to provide consent and make payment in the parent portal
At Jasper Road, we are committed to every student reaching their full potential. As well as making adjustments to extend students within the classroom, students have the opportunity to be selected for some extra programs throughout the year.
In Term 3, students participated in 3 High Potential & Gifted Education projects.
10 Kindergarten students worked with Ms O’Donoghue to write imaginative stories. They began with a plan, drafted their stories and made revisions to improve their work. It was a very exciting day when they were able to take home their published stories, complete with illustrations! Many of the students were inspired to continue writing more stories and we hope to see these in our library one day in the future.
In Year 1, students worked with Miss Stafford to explore a range of mathematical problem-solving strategies designed to deepen their understanding and stretch their thinking. Students were nominated by their class teachers and then completed a problem-solving task to identify those best suited to the program. Throughout the term, these students investigated exciting concepts such as tessellations, the Fibonacci sequence, number combinations, repeating patterns, budgeting, and Pascal’s triangle. These sessions encouraged creativity, logical reasoning and problem solving.
In Stage 3 (Years 5 & 6), 14 students were selected for the Thrive program after a self-nomination process to complete a personal interest project of their choice. These students were given some time to work at school with Ms O’Donoghue, as well as dedicating time at home to their project. It was fantastic to see the creativity, perseverance and determination of these students in completing their projects! The students will be showcasing these to the school in Term 4.
Projects completed included:
film making for documentaries, movies and music videos
publishing writing including novels, short stories and magazines
visual arts including sculpture, portraiture and painting
creative arts including choreography and composing original songs
making game boards, educational books and presentations
Congratulations to all involved.
On Thursday 25 September, 8 library monitors were chosen to attend Lunch with the Stars. This was an activity organised by the Western Sydney Branch of the Children’s Book Council of Australia.
On the day, the students interacted with a large number of authors and illustrators. They had the opportunity to share a table and have lunch with Nathan Luff. He generously spent his time talking to the students about his next book that is coming out in 2026.
All of the students were extremely excited meeting some of their favourite authors and illustrators. Thank you to the generous sponsors who allowed these students to attend the day free of charge.
I look forward to taking more students next year.

Canteen Payments
May we ask if you are paying cash for your child's order or sending spending money, where possible please send coins or smaller value notes. We have limited change available and struggle to change large notes of a morning.
Flexi Schools is a cashless option where canteen orders can be placed each day or even days/weeks in advance. This removes the worry of lost change or forgetting to hand in the order. Ordering can be done for any item on our menu including ice blocks.
If you have placed a recess order, please let your child/ren know to join the "Express Line" at the canteen to collect the order.
Lunch orders are delivered to the classroom, however, if you have ordered any of the following items, please ask your child/ren to collect them from the "Express Line" at the canteen:
Noodles
Ice Blocks
Jelly
Changes or Enquiries for Canteen Orders
Should you need to change or cancel your child's canteen order, we kindly request that instead of contacting the canteen or school directly, please reach out to our Healthy Canteens Office, where multiple staff members are available to assist you promptly. Contacting the school or canteen can disrupt lunch preparation and experience delays in communication.
Contact Details:
Office Phone: 02 9836 2270 or 0405 219 242
Timing: Please make any changes before 10:30 am.
SMS Service: You may also use our SMS service to cancel an order. Simply text us with the following details:
School Name
Child's Name & Class
We will process the cancellation and send you a confirmation SMS.
Important Note: We regret we are unable to hold orders. Instead, cancelled orders will result in funds returning to your FlexiSchools account. This policy ensures clarity, especially in cases of delayed student returns or changes in onsite staff.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. By following these guidelines, we aim to enhance efficiency and minimise disruptions for all involved parties. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
