ROTARY WRITING COMPETITION
Each year, our Year 6 students complete a writing task for selection and submission to the Hills-Kellyville Rotary Writing Competition. On Monday evening, Mrs Rogers had the pleasure of attending the Hills-Kellyville Rotary Club Writing Competition Presentation Evening with three of our Year 6 Students and their parent. It was a lovely celebration of student achievement with students receiving a certificate as finalists in this prestigious event. Congratulations to Sophie (6K), Hari (5/6N) and Ellie (5/6N) whose work was selected for submission. To make the submission phase was an impressive achievement and their attendance at the presentation dinner was the icing on the cake!
NETBALL NSW – ALL ABILITIES
On Tuesday 26 August, some of our Support Unit students had the exciting opportunity to participate in the Netball NSW All Abilities Road Show. Students developed new netball skills, including throwing, catching, and shooting goals. They thoroughly enjoyed playing a modified game of netball, working collaboratively as a team. It was wonderful to see our students enhancing their fundamental movement skills while also building confidence in their ability to participate in the game!
HILLS PERFORMING ARTS
Last night our Stage 2 Choir, Stage 3 Dance group along with our Musical Theatre group and the Jazz Ensemble had the chance to shine at the Hills Performing Arts Festival. It was fantastic that so many parents were able to attend and celebrate their child’s talents on the night. Congratulations to all students that performed and showcased the terrific skills of Jasper Road students.
DONUTS WITH DAYS IS COMING! - Friday 5 September
PARENT WORKSHOP – SAVE THE DATE
On Monday 8 September we will be running our next parent workshop on the topic of Maths. Do you know what your child is learning? Do you know how you can help them? In this hands-on session, we will be talking vocab and the importance of problem solving. We look forward to your attendance.
SASS RECOGNITION WEEK
Next week is School Administrative Staff National Recognition Week. Every year, we say thank you to our SAS staff for the amazing, hard work that they carry out each and every day. Jasper Rd Public School is extremely lucky to have wonderful staff working right across every aspect of the school. SAS staff continually provide invaluable support to the staff, students and parents of our beautiful school. As Principal, it is an absolute pleasure to be working with these genuinely lovely and very dedicated staff members who really do provide ‘service with a smile.’
Our talented, efficient office staff always go above and beyond the call of duty to provide for the school community while our GA works tirelessly to not only ensure our school is safe but to create a vibrant, well-maintained environment. Lastly, our SLSO’s work hand in hand with teachers to provide the very best learning opportunities for our students whilst ensuring health care procedures are carried out with confidentiality and sensitivity. On behalf of the students, parents and staff, I recognise and thank you for the magnificent work that you do every single day.
Every Minute Counts: The Importance of School Attendance
Attendance at school is more than just being present; every minute counts towards your child’s learning and success. Regular attendance helps students build essential skills, stay connected with their teachers and peers, and develop habits that support lifelong learning.
When students miss school, they miss out on important lessons, activities, and opportunities to ask questions and engage. Even a few minutes late every day can add up to significant learning lost over time. Consistent attendance ensures your child doesn’t fall behind and can keep up with the curriculum.
We encourage families to prioritise attendance and punctuality. If your child is late you are required to come in with them to the office and provide an explanation for the absence. If your child is continually late you may receive a phone call home to discuss the matter and to work on a solution.
Keeping Our Children Safe Online: The Importance of Cyber Safety and Parental Monitoring
In today’s digital age, the internet plays a central role in our children’s learning, socialising, and entertainment. While the online world offers incredible opportunities, it also presents risks that parents and carers need to be aware of. Promoting cyber safety and actively monitoring your child’s internet usage are essential steps in ensuring their wellbeing and security.
Why Cyber Safety Matters
Children and young people are often enthusiastic internet users, but may not fully understand the potential dangers online. Exposure to inappropriate content, cyberbullying, online predators, and privacy risks are real concerns. Teaching children about safe online behaviour helps them develop the skills to navigate the internet responsibly and confidently.
Building Trust and Awareness
Creating an environment of trust is key. Instead of simply restricting access, engage in regular conversations about the benefits and risks of the internet. When children feel supported and informed, they are more likely to approach adults with concerns.
Here are some key tips to help keep your child safe online:
Stay Informed: Learn about the platforms, apps, and games your child uses. Understanding how they work helps you guide your child effectively.
Open Communication: Encourage your child to talk about their online experiences. Let them know they can come to you if they encounter anything uncomfortable or upsetting.
Set Boundaries: Establish clear rules around screen time, appropriate content, and online interactions. Consistency helps children understand expectations.
Privacy Matters: Teach your child the importance of protecting personal information, like their full name, address, and school.
Report and Block: Show your child how to block and report inappropriate behaviour or content on apps and websites.
Our school is committed to promoting cyber safety through education and support. Together, we can create a safe online environment where our children can explore and grow confidently.
Zone Athletics Carnival
On Monday, 44 students represented our school at the Castle Hill PSSA Zone Athletics Carnival in a range of field and track events. Participating at this level is a fantastic achievement, and each student has made our school community proud. Whether they raced, jumped, threw, or cheered on their teammates, their commitment and positive spirit exemplify the values we hold dear at Jasper Road. All students should be proud of their efforts.
Early Stage 1 - Kindergarten
Stage 1 - Years 1 & 2
Stage 2 - Year 3 & 4
Stage 3 - Years 5 & 6
Each fortnight we will send you instructions or a link to a "How to" guide from School Bytes. This fortnight is all about how to view student documents or school resources.
There is an overwhelming amount of lost property in the school. While Mr. Warner spoke to children during assemblies this fortnight, please ensure all items include jumpers, hats, lunch boxes, plastic containers and water bottles are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Please feel free to have a look at our trolley located near office building opposite the library.
The warmer weather is approaching quickly, and we have noticed many jumpers being taken off and left around the school grounds.
We encourage parents to remind their children that it is their responsibility to look after their belongings.
Below are some photos of our current School Lost Property.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge closing date has been extended until Friday 19 September. This gives everyone another few weeks to complete the challenge. Keep reading and remember to enter the books. Many of the K-2 teachers have a list of the books they have read in the classroom, so if you need any extra books, don’t forget to check there.
We are so close to 200 students completing the challenge. Currently,192 students have completed their challenge. Who will be our 200th student?
Congratulations to the following students who have recently completed the challenge.
Book Week
This week students have been buzzing with a hive of excitement, participating in activities celebrating Book Week. On Monday, students in years 3, 5 and 6 were given the opportunity to listen to James Roy, a well-known Australian author. He has been writing children’s books for over 20 years. His visit was filled with enthusiasm and laughter as he told many stories of the inspiration behind some of his books. He offered writing advice for the students to incorporate into their writing tasks.
On Tuesday afternoon, classes were meant to participate in our annual “Literacy on the Lawn”, but the rain had other ideas. This changed to “Reading in Rooms”. Students were still able to participate in a minimum of fifteen minutes of reading, an activity which enables our strong reading culture within the school to be extended, without getting wet!!
On Thursday, students in Kindergarten to Year 2 participated in our Book Character Parade. WOW! The costumes were amazing and student behaviour was outstanding, even with all that rain. Even though the students paraded around a shorter path, we still had a wonderful morning. Congratulations to everyone.
Finally, I would like to announce the winners of the Book Week Competitions and the Book Fair Raffle Draw. Thank you to all who entered and supported our school. Congratulations to the following students.

You can access the online catalogue at the link below:

May we ask if you are paying cash for your child's order or sending spending money, where possible please send coins or smaller value notes. We have limited change available and struggle to change large notes of a morning.
Flexi Schools is a cashless option where canteen orders can be placed each day or even days/weeks in advance. This removes the worry of lost change or forgetting to hand in the order. Ordering can be done for any item on our menu including ice blocks.
If you have placed a recess order, please let your child/ren know to join the "Express Line" at the canteen to collect the order.
Lunch orders are delivered to the classroom, however, if you have ordered any of the following items, please ask your child/ren to collect them from the "Express Line" at the canteen:
Noodles
Ice Blocks
Jelly
Changes or Enquiries for Canteen Orders
Should you need to change or cancel your child's canteen order, we kindly request that instead of contacting the canteen or school directly, please reach out to our Healthy Canteens Office, where multiple staff members are available to assist you promptly. Contacting the school or canteen can disrupt lunch preparation and experience delays in communication.

Timing: Please make any changes before 10:30 am.
SMS Service: You may also use our SMS service to cancel an order. Simply text us with the following details:
