Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend Band Camp. It was a fantastic weekend filled with fun, laughs, tutorials and rehearsals before being capped off with an incredible concert with four bands performing new material that they had only learnt hours before. The behaviour, respect and dedication to learning from all the students was a highlight and I congratulate every student for their attendance.
Band Camp and other events do not proceed without teacher and parent support. Thank you to every parent that helped over the course of the weekend whether it was transporting instruments, serving food or supervising, your support was greatly appreciated. I would like to pay special thanks to the teachers that attended. Teachers don’t receive overtime and there is no time in lieu. These staff members took time away from their own families to provide an opportunity for our students and the camp would not have proceeded without your commitment. I thank you for your dedication to Jasper Rd students.
SMART WATCHES AND MOBILE DEVICES - REMINDER
The department’s policy supports the safe, respectful and responsible use of all digital devices and online services to enhance student learning, wellbeing and educational attainment. Primary school students must not use digital devices during class, at recess and at lunch unless approved by a principal or teacher.
Exemptions may only be granted by a principal by placing a request in writing.
If mobile phones or digital devices including smart watches are brought to school, they must remain turned off in school bags and are at the student’s own risk. Students are not permitted to use mobile phones once they have entered the school grounds. All parent/carer communication and contact with students remains through the school office.
EELS CHALLENGE
On Wednesday, 4 June our students attended a wet Rugby League Eels Challenge at Kellyville. Our students fair play, respect and effort were on display throughout the day and it was fantastic to see parents on the sidelines encouraging and cheering. Our students don’t have the chance to play league weekly during PSSA so to see their competitiveness was fantastic. Well done to every student who participated.
PARKING
Council’s Compliance Officers enforce parking signs at our school. When it comes to the safety of our students, drivers found breaking the law will be met with zero tolerance. When an offence is detected, you will be fined. Please be mindful of driveways and no parking signs around our school.

3 WAY CONFERENCES
Each year after the delivery of reports, we schedule 3-way conferences to promote learning partnerships and discuss student goals. Students are encouraged to attend.
This year we will be using School Bytes to schedule conferences. This is a quick and convenient way for you to schedule a time that suits your family. Booking a conference can be completed via the School Bytes app or online.
https://portal.schoolbytes.education/auth/login
Bookings will open on Wednesday 11 June at 12:00pm.
All conferences are held face-to-face and are strictly 10 mins. If you require more interview time, please contact your teacher directly to make alternative arrangements.

Attendance
At Jasper Road we hold high expectations of/ for ourselves and our students in terms of learning, behaviour and attendance just to name a few areas. In terms of attendance often parents can be unaware of the impact a day or 2 here or there can take or the impact of regular holidays that are taken outside of designated holiday times.
The graphic below highlights the impact on days lost at school.
To support your child’s learning, we encourage you to consider scheduling vacations during school holidays whenever possible. If travel during term time is essential, please communicate with your child's teacher and the front office in advance.
Public Speaking- Stages 2 and 3
Stages 2 and 3 students have been presenting their Multi Cultural Speeches as part of Public Speaking. Students have been well prepared, and teachers have been impressed with how well organised and structured their speeches have been. All students have spoken clearly, and their voice projection has been excellent. A class winner will be selected to represent each class at the Stage Multi Cultural Public Speaking Competition. We look forward to witnessing more inspiring speeches and cultural exchanges. From this we will have stage finalists who will represent Jasper Road at the regional level for this event,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank parents for their support in helping prepare their child for their speech. Teachers can see the work that went in to creating the speeches and then practising for the event.

Deputy Principals
Each fortnight we will send you instructions or a link to a "How to" guide from School Bytes. This fortnight is all about how to book a parent-teacher interview.
Lost Property
There is an overwhelming amount of lost property in the school. These items include jumpers, hats, lunch boxes, plastic containers and water bottles. We ask all parents and carers to ensure that all items are labelled with your child’s name. Also, please encourage your child to search for their lost items in the lost property bin outside, near the sick bay entrance.
PSSA
Premier’s Reading Challenge:
We have now reached 132 students who have completed the challenge. We are well on our way to beating our record of 286 students. Keep up all the fantastic work everyone. But, don’t worry though if you have not completed the challenge yet. It runs to the 22nd August. A huge congratulations to the following students:
Westwords Program;
Year 4 students have been participating in the Westwords Program, working with author James Roy to plan written pieces about heroes and villains. So far the students have completed three sessions and have worked on character development and setting. We look forward to reading their completed written pieces later in the year.

Canteen Payments
May we ask if you are paying cash for your child's order or sending spending money, where possible please send coins or smaller value notes. We have limited change available and struggle to change large notes of a morning.
Flexi Schools is a cashless option where canteen orders can be placed each day or even days/weeks in advance. This removes the worry of lost change or forgetting to hand in the order. Ordering can be done for any item on our menu including ice blocks.
If you have placed a recess order, please let your child/ren know to join the "Express Line" at the canteen to collect the order.
Lunch orders are delivered to the classroom, however, if you have ordered any of the following items, please ask your
child/ren to collect them from the "Express Line" at the canteen:
Noodles
Ice Blocks
Jelly
Changes or Enquiries for Canteen Orders
Should you need to change or cancel your child's canteen order, we kindly request that instead of contacting the canteen or school directly, please reach out to our Healthy Canteens Office, where multiple staff members are available to assist you promptly. Contacting the school or canteen can disrupt lunch preparation and experience delays in communication.
Contact Details:
Office Phone: 02 9836 2270 or 0405 219 242
Timing: Please make any changes before 10:30 am.
SMS Service: You may also use our SMS service to cancel an order. Simply text us with the following details:
School Name
Child's Name & Class
We will process the cancellation and send you a confirmation SMS.
Important Note: We regret we are unable to hold orders. Instead, cancelled orders will result in funds returning to your FlexiSchools account. This policy ensures clarity, especially in cases of delayed student returns or changes in onsite staff.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. By following these guidelines, we aim to enhance efficiency and minimise disruptions for all involved parties. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
