Thank you to our amazing community for an incredible Public Education Week. Last week was an incredible showcase of our students both inside and outside the classroom with fantastic parent support and attendance.
The week started with our Book Fair which the community truly embraced. Thank you for supporting your child’s reading journey and purchasing books. All funds go back into the library to provide new resources and the amazing environment we have created in this space.
On Tuesday morning we had our biggest day with our roadshow, concerts and open classrooms. Our performance groups had the chance to shine on the stage before we celebrated academic achievements in the classrooms. It was fantastic to welcome so many parents into the school and showcase the ways we ‘Ignite Potential’ every day.
The following day we recognised Jeans for Genes and raised just under $1000. This will be donated to the Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI). Thank you to the SRC for organising this important fundraiser.
Our celebrations finished on Thursday, with our annual Band Bonanza. Wow, wow, wow!! What a night. Jazz, Blues, Classical, Pop and Phat Brass. Thank you so much to our band committee and community for supporting this showcase of musical talent. Our Band Bonanza was an amazing celebration of our students and the community and continue to grow year after year. It has become a true community event and is being recognised around the area.
Special thanks to Dr Clark, Jessica Ling, Divya Azzi, Tristan Baker, BAM Studios and Orson Baker. Thank you for your leadership of our bands. I can confidently say that no other band has a celebration quite like this!
Well Done Jasper Road!
BOOK WEEK
Our next celebration is only around the corner with Book Week next week. Our younger students will be participating in a Character Parade while our older students have a special author visit to look forward to. Information has been sent home for both events. We look forward to celebrating books and reading throughout the week
PARENT WORKSHOP – SAVE THE DATE
On Monday 8 September we will be running our next parent workshop on the topic of Maths. Do you know what your child is learning? Do you know how you can help them? In this hands-on session, we will be talking vocab and the importance of problem solving. We look forward to your attendance.
NETBALL NSW
Our incredibly popular after school netball program is returning later this term. There are still limited sports available with registration closing TODAY. Sessions will run each Monday afternoon immediately after school from next week during which students will learn new skills and play games from expert coaches. All students will receive a Netball NSW pack at the completion.

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Last fortnight we held our Athletics Carnival at A H Whaling Reserve. Congratulations to every child for trying their best whether it was running the 100m, throwing a discus or leaping in the long jump. Special thanks to Miss Richardson and the organising committee for a fantastic day. Students have been notified if they were successful in representing our school at the Zone carnival.
DONUTS WITH DAYS IS COMING! - Friday 5 September
NATIONAL TREE DAY
Last week our Year 5 Arbor students began planting new trees around the school. This commenced in the area behind the library and will continue next week in other areas. Unfortunately, the department recently deemed that some trees had to be removed for safety so it is now our plan to replace every one removed with another five. A huge thank to Bunnings Castle Hill and Hills Council for providing new native trees, plants and ground covers for this purpose.

Athletics Carnival
On Wednesday 13 August, after our original date was cancelled due to the weather, we were able to hold our Annual 3-6 Athletics Carnival. 497 students attended to compete in a variety of track and field events, showcasing their skills, determination, and school spirit.
The carnival was a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves and celebrate personal bests, whether it was sprinting, long jump, shot put, high jump or discuss. It was inspiring to see so many students encouraging each other and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.
We extend our gratitude to the teachers for running the event, the P&C who ran the canteen and parents who came to support the event.
NSW Regional Spelling Bee
Congratulations to Harry from 4R and Prioska from 5/6B who represented Jasper Road at the Regional Spelling Bee on Thursday. Both students were successful at their stage finals last term and were focussed and eager to do well. The first 4 rounds consisted of words that the students had seen and could practise and from round 5 the words were unseen. Harry and Prioska should be proud of their tremendous efforts and results. Harry reached round 7 and came 5th in the region and Prioska reached round 9 and came 4th.
Well done Harry and Prioska
Attendance Matters: Every Day Counts!
Regular attendance is essential for student success. When students attend school every day, they have the best chance to learn, build friendships, and develop skills that will help them throughout life. Missing even a few days can add up to significant learning time lost.
Why Attendance Matters:
Consistent attendance helps students keep up with lessons and avoid falling behind.
Being at school every day supports social development and helps build strong relationships with teachers and peers.
Good attendance habits set the foundation for future success in education, work, and life.
The Impact of Days Lost:
Did you know that missing just 2 days a month adds up to nearly a month of school lost every year? Over time, this can lead to gaps in learning and challenges in keeping up with classmates.
To help visualise this, we have included our "Days Lost" poster below. It highlights how absences accumulate and why every school day counts.
Tips for Improving Attendance:
Make school attendance a priority in your family.
Schedule appointments outside of school hours where possible.
Talk to your child about the importance of being at school every day.
If your child is sick, communicate with the school and follow their advice on when to return.
Remember, every day at school matters. If you are experiencing any difficulty in getting your child to school, please reach out to their class teacher or us so we can support your child and turn things around.
Early Stage 1 - Kindergarten
Stage 1 - Years 1 & 2
Stage 2 - Year 3 & 4
Stage 3 - Years 5 & 6
Each fortnight we will send you instructions or a link to a "How to" guide from School Bytes. This fortnight is all about how to view student documents or school resources.
Lost Property
There is an overwhelming amount of lost property in the school and we are in week 4. While Mr. Warner spoke to children during assemblies this fortnight, please ensure all items include jumpers, hats, lunch boxes, plastic containers and water bottles are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Please feel free to have a look at our trolley located near office building opposite the library.
Kindergarten enrolments for 2026 are now open! If you have a child or know of anyone living in the JRPS catchment area whose child turns 5 by July 31, 2026, please enrol sooner rather than later so that you receive all correspondence.
Use the following link to access the enrolment tab on our website for more information.
Library News:
Premier’s Reading Challenge:
We have now reached 174 students who have completed the challenge. We are edging closer to beat our record of 286 students. Keep up all the fantastic work everyone. But, don’t worry though if you have not completed the challenge yet. It runs to the 22nd August. A huge congratulations to the following students.
Book Fair:
THANK YOU!!.
Thank you for supporting our school through your purchases at the Book Fair. Your support allows new books to be purchased for the library and for the students to read for their enjoyment.
Book Week:
Next week is the most exciting week in the library calendar. It is Book Week! This is where we celebrate and promote the importance of reading, honouring and celebrating Australian literature. During the week JRPS will be hosting lots of celebrations, including the K-2 character parade, 3-6 author talk with James Roy, literacy on the lawn and fun lunchtime activities based on many of the shortlisted titles, all leading up to the highly anticipated announcement of winners of the CBCA Book of the Year Awards. Don’t forget that our Book Week Competition ends next Tuesday, 19 August. It’s not too late to enter. If you would like a new entry form, please come and see me. Prepare for an exciting week!

Did you come to the Roadshow that we had on Tuesday, 5 August? What an amazing day it was! The sun came out, and parents came to see what was happening in the school and the classroom. For two hours, I chatted with parents, and it was great getting to meet some of you for the first time and reconnect with ones that I had met before.
On Tuesday morning, a parent asked me what was good about UNO. I paused to consider it, answered this parent and concluded it was more beneficial than I realised.
Playing UNO is a great way to strengthen your relationship with your child. The game provides a relaxed environment where you can ask questions and learn more about your child’s thoughts and feelings. Whether you’re at home, at McDonald's, or in the park, UNO offers a safe and enjoyable way to connect. If you’re looking for ways to bond with your child, setting aside a regular time—weekly or fortnightly—to play three rounds of UNO can help build trust and deepen your relationship. Adding some treats can make it even more special, and it’s an activity your whole family can enjoy together.
Talking Point Cards, Conversations with Purpose: Sometimes, it can be hard for families to find things to talk about at the table, especially when a child often says “I don’t know.” I found that Talking Point cards are really helpful for this. They have lots of different topics and questions. I use them by asking students to pick a card and then ask the question to others. It’s a good way to start conversations and helps everyone learn more about each other.
Some of the questions asked are:
What was the best gift you ever received?
Why was that your favourite?
How do you like to relax?
What is your favourite part of the house?
Coffee Morning, catching up with the Chaplain
This term, our usual Coffee Morning with the Chaplain will be held in the afternoon instead.
Join us in Week 6, on Tuesday, 26 August, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm outside the hall. Enjoy a coffee or tea while you wait for your child to finish school.
Look out for posters around the school with more information.
May we ask if you are paying cash for your child's order or sending spending money, where possible please send coins or smaller value notes. We have limited change available and struggle to change large notes of a morning.
Flexi Schools is a cashless option where canteen orders can be placed each day or even days/weeks in advance. This removes the worry of lost change or forgetting to hand in the order. Ordering can be done for any item on our menu including ice blocks.
If you have placed a recess order, please let your child/ren know to join the "Express Line" at the canteen to collect the order.
Lunch orders are delivered to the classroom, however, if you have ordered any of the following items, please ask your child/ren to collect them from the "Express Line" at the canteen:
Noodles
Ice Blocks
Jelly
Changes or Enquiries for Canteen Orders
Should you need to change or cancel your child's canteen order, we kindly request that instead of contacting the canteen or school directly, please reach out to our Healthy Canteens Office, where multiple staff members are available to assist you promptly. Contacting the school or canteen can disrupt lunch preparation and experience delays in communication.
Contact Details:
Office Phone: 02 9836 2270 or 0405 219 242
Timing: Please make any changes before 10:30 am.
SMS Service: You may also use our SMS service to cancel an order. Simply text us with the following details:
School Name
Child's Name & Class
We will process the cancellation and send you a confirmation SMS.
Important Note: We regret we are unable to hold orders. Instead, cancelled orders will result in funds returning to your FlexiSchools account. This policy ensures clarity, especially in cases of delayed student returns or changes in onsite staff.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. By following these guidelines, we aim to enhance efficiency and minimise disruptions for all involved parties. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
