Through it all, we continued to ensure that quality explicit lessons were taught to every student, every day. At Jasper Road we have expert teachers that promote excellence with every child. Opportunities are provided in the four domains of Intellectual, Creative, Social Emotional and Physical. Whether your child achieves in the classroom or outside the walls, all students are encouraged to take hold of the opportunities available to them every day.
STAFFING
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Deputy Principal, Mrs Vanessa Rogers for her many years of service at Jasper Road. Earlier this term we advised the community that Mrs Rogers had been appointed, through merit selection, to the position of Principal at a John Purchase Public School with today being her final day.
Mrs Rogers has been an integral part of our school community, and she will be greatly missed. We wish every success at John Purchase PS, and I know you will join me in congratulating and farewelling her.
I would like to congratulate Ms Amanda Pena who will be stepping into the Relieving Deputy Principal position in Mrs Rogers absence. Ms Pena has worked at Jasper Road this year and knows the policies and high expectations of our school. I am sure you will welcome her when given the chance.
Lastly, please be advised that I will be on leave during the first week of Term 4. Mrs Dunscombe will be Relieving Principal during this time.
HILLS PUBLIC SPEAKING
Last week our stage winning students participated at the Hills Public Speaking Final. Each year, 31 schools from around the Region participate and I am very proud to announce that Anahita (5/6N) won the Stage 3 competition. This is a fantastic achievement as she not only had to present her speech but also complete a 2 min impromptu with little prep time. Congratulations to all the students who represented our school. You did Jasper Rd very proud!
PARENT WORKSHOP
Our next parent workshop will be held on Wednesday 22 October from 8am in the hall. At this session we will be diving into Writing. We will be discussing sentence structure and what is expected for each year of learning. We will also be sharing tips and tricks for helping at home.
TERM 4
School resumes on TUESDAY 14 OCTOBER.
Uniform
Being the end of Term 3, it is time to dig out summer uniforms and prepare for the hotter months. Next term, it is an expectation that all students will be wearing the summer uniform. Please remember that the uniform shop is open on Tuesday and Saturday. Purchases can also be made online with the goods sent to classrooms the following Tuesday. Thank you in advance for ensuring summer uniform is worn and supporting the high expectations we set at Jasper Road.
BAND COME AND TRY NIGHT
Each year, the Band Committee holds a ‘Come and Try’ Night for students wishing to join the band the following year. While this is targeted at Year 2 students, any child in Years 3-6 in 2026 who wishes to find out more information is invited to attend. The night will begin with an information session so please be prompt for arrival so that you don’t miss out on important information.
THANKS
Huge thanks to one of our parents (Mr Kerle) from Sparkling Ovens and Barbecues who last fortnight made our BBQs shine. After many hours of use they needed a good clean and Mr Kerle has ensured that they are ‘sparkling’ clean and ready for our Disco next term.
PARKING
There is strictly no parking in the staff car park. This includes before and after school or when accessing the OOSH facilities. Please be advised that the car park gates are locked at a certain time which may result in cars being locked inside.

Principal
Attendance
Even though term 3, due to illnesses have a huge impact on attendance we are proud of the many great results achieved by the students at Jasper Road for attendance in term 3.
586 students had an attendance rate of between 90-100% which is 72% of our students. A special mention to the 180 students who had 100% attendance for the term. When looking at our attendance data by classes and grades we need to congratulate Year 2 who overall had the best attendance rate of 94% and KC was the class with the best attendance rate for the term.
Thanking parents for their ongoing support in encouraging regular attendance and looking at how we can improve upon these results in term 4.
Kinder 2026
Plans are currently underway for our Kinder Parent Information session for Kinder 2026 as well as our Kinder Orientation sessions. If you have not enrolled your child for Kindergarten next year, please do so as soon as possible and before our sessions begin
On Tuesday 23 September Kindergarten attended an incursion in the school hall.
The Jollybops Mix It Up (Chemistry Show) was linked to our science units Material and Living Worlds and was presented by Rusty the Robot and the Jolly Professor.
The students thoroughly enjoyed this humorous, high energy, fully interactive show with its explosive gases, combusting powders and metals, freezing liquids, colour changing reactions and slimy gooey polymer worms.
Early Stage 1 - Kindergarten
Stage 1 - Years 1 & 2
Stage 2 - Year 3 & 4
Stage 3 - Years 5 & 6
Each fortnight we will send you instructions or a link to a "How to" guide from School Bytes. This fortnight is all about how to provide consent and make payment in the parent portal
Lost Property
There is an overwhelming amount of lost property in the school. While Mr. Warner previously spoke to children during assemblies, please ensure all items include jumpers, hats, lunch boxes, plastic containers and water bottles are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Please feel free to have a look at our trolley located near office building opposite the library. At the end of term 3 if any items with NO NAMES will be thrown in bin.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
The Premier’s Reading Challenge has now closed for 2025. Congratulations to all of the students who completed the challenge. Whilst we didn’t quite achieve our goal of having 300 students complete the challenge, we were so close. Amazingly, 258 students did complete the challenge throughout the year, which was fantastic to see. This is a new record for our school. Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged your child to complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year and I am sure we will achieve our goal next year.
Well done to everyone who have recently completed the challenge
Keep Reading!
Mrs Bugeja.

Don’t hesitate to email or speak to one of our members if you think you can help!
Celebrating Mrs Franks
Earlier this term, Mrs Jennifer Franks was awarded Highly Accomplished Teacher Status — making her the third teacher at JRPS to receive this honour. On behalf of the parents and community, the P&C presented Mrs Franks with a bouquet of flowers to congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition of her outstanding contributions to our school.
In response, Mrs Franks shared her thanks:
“I was very touched by your kind words and that time was taken out of your days to acknowledge my achievement. Thank you once again.”
Congratulations Mrs Franks — we are so proud of you!
Congratulations Mrs Rogers
At our Week 8 P&C meeting, we bid farewell to our much-loved Deputy Principal, Mrs Vanessa Rogers, who has been appointed through merit selection as the new Principal of John Purchase Public School. Canteen Payments
May we ask if you are paying cash for your child's order or sending spending money, where possible please send coins or smaller value notes. We have limited change available and struggle to change large notes of a morning.
Flexi Schools is a cashless option where canteen orders can be placed each day or even days/weeks in advance. This removes the worry of lost change or forgetting to hand in the order. Ordering can be done for any item on our menu including ice blocks.
If you have placed a recess order, please let your child/ren know to join the "Express Line" at the canteen to collect the order.
Lunch orders are delivered to the classroom, however, if you have ordered any of the following items, please ask your child/ren to collect them from the "Express Line" at the canteen:
Noodles
Ice Blocks
Jelly
Changes or Enquiries for Canteen Orders
Should you need to change or cancel your child's canteen order, we kindly request that instead of contacting the canteen or school directly, please reach out to our Healthy Canteens Office, where multiple staff members are available to assist you promptly. Contacting the school or canteen can disrupt lunch preparation and experience delays in communication.
Contact Details:
Office Phone: 02 9836 2270 or 0405 219 242
Timing: Please make any changes before 10:30 am.
SMS Service: You may also use our SMS service to cancel an order. Simply text us with the following details:
School Name
Child's Name & Class
We will process the cancellation and send you a confirmation SMS.
Important Note: We regret we are unable to hold orders. Instead, cancelled orders will result in funds returning to your FlexiSchools account. This policy ensures clarity, especially in cases of delayed student returns or changes in onsite staff.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. By following these guidelines, we aim to enhance efficiency and minimise disruptions for all involved parties. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
