SCHOOL CALENDAR
The last day of school for 2024 is Wednesday 18 December. School resumes for ALL STUDENTS, including our new Kindy cohort, on Thursday 6 February 2025.
HEART OF THE NATION
As a component of our partnership with ‘Heart of the Nation’, this week students in Stage 3 were led through a trial educational program to promote heart awareness.
With the release of the new NSW PDHPE syllabus, students in Years 5-10 will be explicitly taught CPR and the importance of an Automated External Defibrillator with Jasper Road pioneering this in classrooms.
Thanks to teachers for leading this program with our students.
SCHOOLS SPECTACULAR
Last weekend 24 students from Stage 3 participated in the NSW Schools Spectacular. This multi concert event is held yearly at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney Olympic Park in front of sold-out audiences and showcases the amazing talents of students from across public education.
This year’s event will be broadcast later in the year on Channel Seven where our students will be seen singing throughout the show. I would like to pass on a huge thanks to Mrs Beedham and Miss Hankinson for their organisation and attendance this year. Through their support of our students, they provided a memory that will never be forgotten. Their dedication to our students and school is above and beyond!
BAND SOIREE
On Sunday 24 November we held our Band Soiree to a packed hall of friends and family. It was incredible to hear the growth of our bands and celebrate 2024. I would like to congratulate every child that participated along with our award winners. Your dedication to attend all rehearsals and strive to master your specific instrument is an incredible achievement.
Our two major award winners this year were:
Brenda Thompson Award – Logan M
Stuart Scollay Spirit of Music Award – Amelia D
BOCCIA
Tuesday 3 December is International Day of People with a Disability. To recognise this day, our Support Unit students competed against Crestwood High School Support Unit on Wednesday in our Interschool Boccia Tournament. Students and teachers from both schools were very excited and full of anticipation for a tough competition! Throughout the day, other classes watched as an audience to celebrate our student’s sporting glory. We would like to thank the P&C for contributing funds towards this event.
PLANNING FOR 2025
The school and executive have commenced planning for 2025. To assist with planning, if you are leaving our school at the end of the year, could you please contact the office. As sad as we will be to see you leave our school, knowing this information will assist with class formation.
SELECTIVE HIGH SCHOOL & OPPORTUNITY CLASSES
Applications for selective high school and opportunity class entry in 2026 will be open from 7 November 2024 to 21 February 2025. There will be no late applications due to the longer application period, and the application closing date being closer to the test dates and logistical constraints around organising test centres and devices.
Parents and carers must apply online using the Selective high school and opportunity class placement application website.
This change to the application period means that parents and carers will now need to apply for opportunity class placement when their child is in Year 3 (or by the end of Week 4, Term 1 when their child is in Year 4). This change applies to students currently in Year 3.
For selective high school placement, parents and carers will continue to apply when their child is in Year 5 and can now apply when their child is in year 6 until the end of Week 4, Term 1.
From 2025, the placement tests for selective high schools and opportunity classes will move from single version paper-based tests to computer-based tests.
Detailed instructions on how to apply are available at:
UNIFORM
Throughout 2024, the school has been completing a review of the school uniform. This review included a community survey, parent discussions, staff survey and student collaboration. After the review we are able to release the uniform expectations for 2025. Any changes to the policy will be ‘phased in’ with new additions available from early Term 1.
The school sports uniform may be worn at the following times:
Early Stage 1- Wednesday & Friday
Stage 1 - Thursday & Friday
Stage 2 & 3 – Class Sport Day and Friday
The Graduating Yr 6 cohort is also afforded the opportunity to purchase an end of year celebration polo. This may be worn on Wednesday each week.
Jasper Road Public School has a tendered provider who shall be onsite during set and advertised dates.
While this facility exists, as always, parents are also afforded the opportunity to source and purchase uniforms from external providers.
Thank you in advance for supporting the high expectations of the community.

Principal
From the Deputies
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all students on a wonderful year. The year has flown by, and we have constantly been impressed with the learning of all students.
Next week we will have our Presentation Day Assemblies where we will have the opportunity to acknowledge students in every class in the areas of Academic Achievement, Outstanding Achievement in Literacy or Numeracy, STAR Leadership Award and Overall Effort & Application.
Friday week 9, parents will receive their child’s Academic Report for semester two and you will be able to read about your child’s achievements. We acknowledge the work the teachers have put into your child’s report and their dedication to ensuring that all students are learners and that they achieve their full potential.
We would like to thank our parents for their support. We are grateful for the relationships that we have with our parents and that we are able to work together to ensure every child thrives at school. We would especially like to thank the P&C for their support over the year especially with Kinder Orientation and Movie Night.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday break. Hoping that you have the opportunity to catch up with families and friends and refresh ready for a fabulous 2025.

School Stages
From the Office
Each fortnight we will send you instructions or a link to a "How to" guide from School Bytes. This fortnight is all about how to provide consent and payment for an event.
Lost Property
There is an overwhelming amount of lost property in the school. These items include jumpers, hats, lunch boxes, plastic containers and water bottles. We ask all parents and carers to ensure that all items are labelled with your child’s name. Also, please encourage your child to search for their lost items in the lost property bin outside, near the sick bay entrance. Any unclaimed items will be disposed of at the end of term.
Arbor News
In Week 6, the Arbors hosted a Toy Swap to celebrate National Recycling Week. The idea behind the swap was to divert toys away from landfill and into the arms of a new eager owner! Students from Years 3-6 swapped toys on Wednesday, and Kindy-Year 2 joined in on Thursday. There were many happy faces after the swap as children went home with their 'new' toy. This is a great time of year to ask children to sort through their toys and see what they no longer use, which could be donated. Charities often report a huge influx of toy donations after Christmas, however these are most needed in the lead up to Christmas.
New Arbor Leaders 2025
Students in Year 4 recently had a chance to self-nominate to become an Arbor leader for next Year. Congratulations to the 10 students who submitted an application form and were voted in by our current cohort of Arbors. Ella C, Sebastian K, Lucy M, Yash T, Zachary Z, Reha K, Sian M, William G, Daniel L and Saish M are warmly welcomed to our environmental group. These new students will become leaders in 2025! Did you know that Jasper Road's Arbor program has been running for over 30 years? Our new leaders will become part of this tradition, with responsibilities including:
growing fruits and vegetables in garden and hydroponics beds
maintaining worm farms and compost bins
collecting recycling for Return & Earn
educating other students and teachers about environmental matters
conducting water and electricity usage audits
The new leaders will participate in a training day in Week 8 to begin to learn the ropes.
Canteen
Canteen Payments
May we ask if you are paying cash for your child's order or sending spending money, where possible please send coins or smaller value notes. We have limited change available and struggle to change large notes of a morning.
FlexiSchools is a cashless option where canteen orders can be placed each day or even days/weeks in advance. This removes the worry of lost change or forgetting to hand in the order. Ordering can be done for any item on our menu including ice blocks.
If you have placed a recess order, please let your child/ren know to join the "Express Line" at the canteen to collect the order.
Lunch orders are delivered to the classroom, however, if you have ordered any of the following items, please ask your
child/ren to collect them from the "Express Line" at the canteen:
Noodles
Ice Blocks
Jelly
Changes or Enquiries for Canteen Orders
Should you need to change or cancel your child's canteen order, we kindly request that instead of contacting the canteen or school directly, please reach out to our Healthy Canteens Office, where multiple staff members are available to assist you promptly. Contacting the school or canteen can disrupt lunch preparation and experience delays in communication.
Contact Details:
Office Phone: 02 9836 2270 or 0405 219 242
Timing: Please make any changes before 10:30 am.
SMS Service: You may also use our SMS service to cancel an order. Simply text us with the following details:
School Name
Child's Name & Class
We will process the cancellation and send you a confirmation SMS.
Important Note: We regret we are unable to hold orders. Instead, cancelled orders will result in funds returning to your FlexiSchools account. This policy ensures clarity, especially in cases of delayed student returns or changes in onsite staff.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. By following these guidelines, we aim to enhance efficiency and minimise disruptions for all involved parties. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

As a P&C executive we are proud of the partnership that we have with the JRPS staff. We worked collaboratively with the staff to develop a wish list of items that they felt would best support their students, our children, inside and outside the classroom. The list above is the result of this wish list.
To Mr Warner and the entire JRPS staff, thank you for supporting the P&C we look forward to our partnership continuing for years to come.
To the students and families who are leaving our school this year, thank you for the contribution you have made to our school over your time here. We wish you all the very best and look forward to hearing about your accomplishments.
