11.30am – Stage 3
Thursday 11 December

School Calendar
The last day of school for 2025 is Friday 19 December. School resumes for ALL STUDENTS including our new Kindy cohort on Monday 2 February.
Heart of the Nation
As a component of our partnership with Heart of the Nation and The Heart Foundation, this week students in Stage 3 were led through the Call/Push/Shock educational program to promote heart awareness.
With the release of the new NSW PDHPE syllabus, students in Years 5-10 will be explicitly taught CPR and the importance of an Automated External Defibrillator with Jasper Road pioneering this in classrooms.
Thanks to teachers for leading this program with our students.
Schools Spectacular
Last weekend 24 students from Stage 3 participated in the NSW Schools Spectacular. This multi concert event is held yearly at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney Olympic Park in front of sold-out audiences and showcases the amazing talents of students from across public education.
This year’s event will be broadcast on Friday 19 December on Channel Seven where our students will be seen singing throughout the show. I would like to pass on a huge thanks to Miss Hankinson and Miss Burbage for their organisation and attendance this year. Through their support of our students, they provided a memory that will never be forgotten. Their dedication to our students and school is above and beyond!
Band Soiree
On Sunday 23 November we held our Band Soiree to a packed hall of friends and family. It was incredible to hear the growth of our bands and celebrate 2025. I would like to congratulate every child that participated along with our award winners. Your dedication to attend all rehearsals and strive to master your specific instrument is an incredible achievement. Our two major award winners this year were:
Brenda Thompson Award – Ishaan A
Stuart Scollay Spirit of Music Award – Elvin C
Boccia
International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is observed annually on 3 December and is a joint effort between government, schools, organisations, community groups, businesses and individuals to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
Starting last Friday, all classes 1-6 attended the Variety NSW ‘Just Like You’ Program. This awareness workshop, built understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of those living with a disability and was delivered by a facilitator who themselves lives with a disability. At Jasper Road we build an inclusive environment and develop empathetic students by increasing their understanding of both hidden and visible disabilities.
To also recognise this important day, on Wednesday our Support Unit students competed against Crestwood High School Support Unit in our Interschool Boccia Tournament. Students and teachers from both schools were very excited and full of anticipation as the schools battled through the day. To finish off the competition, we were joined by special guest Justin Hodges; ex Australia NRL player; to compete against the students. We would like to thank the P&C for contributing funds towards this event.
Planning For 2025
The school and executive have commenced planning for 2025. To assist with planning, if you are leaving our school at the end of the year, could you please contact the office. As sad as we will be to see you leave our school, knowing this information will assist with class formation.
Little Ray of Giving
Thank you to the large number of families that have donated towards this special cause. We have already delivered four carloads of products which is amazing!
This year we are honoured to partner with Ray White Baulkham Hills to support families.
"A Little Ray of Giving" is an annual Christmas charity drive that collects donations of gifts, toys, and food for local charities in Australia. Each year Ray White offices partner with a chosen organisation with community members encouraged to drop off new, unwrapped gifts or non-perishable food items.
For the past decade, this initiative has provided much-needed support and care to families that struggle over the demanding holiday period.
This year we have joined the drive and are accepting donations. From today we will be collecting non-perishable food donations. These gifts will then be delivered to The Salvation Army to distribute to those in need in our community. Donations are due by 4pm on 10 December.
Donation Suggestions:
Snacks (biscuits, chips, chocolates, lollies)
Tinned foods (ring-pull only): fruits, vegetables, meat/fish
Meal bases: pasta sauces, meal kits, pre-prepared rice meals
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate
Personal toiletries: soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc
Baby care items: nappies, baby wipes, etc
Cleaning products: dish detergent, washing powder, etc
If each family was to donate only two items, we would have over 1600 items providing much needed support.
The SRC thanks you in advance for your support.
Community Notification
Transport NSW will be completing safety improvement work at the intersection of Seven Hills Rd and Jasper Rd. Please see the attached community notification for further information.
SRC Bake Sale & Mufti Day Fundraiser
Last week our SRC ran a Bake Sale and Mufti Day to raise funds towards charitable projects and school improvements. Thank you to every family that cooked and/or donated food. Thank you to the SRC, Miss Denning, Mrs Fardoulis and Ms Baker for organising this event.
Selective High School & Opportunity Classes
Applications for selective high school and opportunity class entry in 2026 will be open from 6 November 2025 to 20 February 2026. There will be no late applications due to the longer application period, and the application closing date being closer to the test dates and logistical constraints around organising test centres and devices.
Parents and carers must apply online using the Selective high school and opportunity class placement application website.
This change to the application period means that parents and carers will now need to apply for opportunity class placement when their child is in Year 3 (or by the end of Week 4, Term 1 when their child is in Year 4). This change applies to students currently in Year 3.
For selective high school placement, parents and carers will continue to apply when their child is in Year 5 and can now apply when their child is in year 6 until the end of Week 4, Term 1.
In 2026, placement tests for selective high schools and opportunity classes will be computer-based tests.

High School Transitions Sessions Underway
We are excited to share that our Year 6 students are participating in dedicated high school transition sessions designed to support their move to high schools across the Department of Education. These sessions help students build key skills, learn about what to expect, and prepare confidently for this important change. Keep an eye out for information about the upcoming High School Orientation Days, an excellent opportunity for students and families to explore their new schools and get ready for the next chapter in their learning journey.
Clean Away
Stage 2 students participated in a Cleanaway School Program, designed to engage students in practical and fun learning about waste management, recycling, and environmental sustainability. The program included interactive workshops, hands-on activities, and classroom resources that teach children the importance of reducing waste, sorting recyclables correctly, and caring for our planet. Through this program, students develop an understanding of eco-friendly practices and are empowered to make a positive environmental impact in their schools and communities.
Working together for a cleaner, greener future!
Variety Show
Students at Jasper Road Public School participated in Variety’s inclusive programs, which were designed to educate, empower, and inspire children. These programs supported students in building confidence, developing new skills, and fostering a strong sense of belonging within their community. Through engaging, interactive workshops that promoted disability awareness and inclusion, the students learned to understand and celebrate diversity. By encouraging empathy and acceptance, Variety’s programs helped create a more inclusive and compassionate environment for all.
Attendance
At Jasper Road, we believe that attending school every day is one of the most important habits your child can develop for a successful future. When students show up consistently, they don’t just learn new facts - they build friendships, develop confidence, and create a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
We would like to acknowledge and celebrate our school’s outstanding attendance! We want to thank you for your ongoing support in making sure your child is here, ready to learn, every day. Even a few days missed can add up, so your effort in getting children to school on time truly makes a difference.
Here are some reasons why good attendance matters:
Students who attend regularly perform better academically.
Good attendance helps children develop social skills and stronger relationships.
Establishing regular routines sets children up for positive habits in the future.
Occasionally, attendance challenges can occur, and we encourage open communication to work together in supporting every student’s success. If you have any concerns or need assistance with your child’s attendance, please don’t hesitate to contact our school team.
Thank you for your ongoing support!

Stage 1 - Years 1 & 2
Stage 2 - Years 3 & 4
Stage 3 - Years 5 & 6
Each fortnight we will send you instructions or a link to a "How to" guide from School Bytes. This fortnight is all about how to manage student absences.
Lost Property
There is an overwhelming amount of lost property in the school. While Mr. Warner previously spoke to children during assemblies, please ensure all items include jumpers, hats, lunch boxes, plastic containers and water bottles are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Please feel free to have a look at our trolley located near office building opposite the library. At the end of Term 4, any lost property items without names will be disposed of.
Parent Emails & End of Year Reports
With the end of the school year around the corner, school reports and important School Bytes notifications are sent out via email. In preparation for this busy time, it is imperative that parent email addresses are correct in our system. If you have recently changed your email address, you are asked to update your contact details via the School Bytes Parent Portal. We also ask for parents to ensure your email inbox has space so you do not miss out on any important information.
Reports will be sent to the first email in our system. This is the same email listed to receive absence notifications. If parents would still like a printed copy of the report, they will be able to request it through the front office.
Thank you in advance for your preparation as we take the step in providing our families immediate access to digital reports and information.
Arbors Training Day – Growing Our Future Environmental Leaders
This week, 23 enthusiastic students took part in a special training day to become Jasper Road’s new environmental leaders, known as the Arbors. It was a full and exciting day of hands-on learning, exploring the many ways we can care for and improve our school environment.
Students rotated through a range of practical activities, getting their hands dirty in the worm farms, fruit trees, vegetable gardens and hydroponics setups. They also learned the science behind how these systems work and why they’re so important for sustainability.
As part of their leadership training, the group conducted an environmental audit of the school. They investigated opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint by checking electricity use, looking for taps left running and reviewing our waste and recycling habits. They even collected bottles and cans to recycle through Return and Earn, helping raise funds to support the ongoing costs of the Arbors program.
Despite the heat, our student leaders worked with incredible energy and positivity. Their curiosity, teamwork and genuine respect for the environment were inspiring to watch. We are confident they will continue the strong traditions of the Arbors and make a real difference at Jasper Road.
We can’t wait to see what this dedicated team of young environmental champions achieve next!

From discos and BBQs to our recent community movie night, every event has been made possible thanks to the families who volunteer their time and the families who come along to support our work. We are so grateful for each and every one of you.
Working alongside our wonderful JRPS staff, the P&C has continued to provide resources and support that make a real difference for students across the school. Thank you for being part of the community that makes this possible.

Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2025
A huge congratulations to our Graduating Class of 2025, who celebrated their Farewell Dinner on Wednesday 3 December. The evening was a wonderful success — beautifully decorated, full of joy, and enjoyed by all.
The Farewell Dinner is a shining example of the strong school–parent partnership that we are so proud to have at JRPS. It was heartwarming to see parents and carers contributing their time, creativity and skills alongside the dedicated teachers and staff who volunteered to organise, coordinate and attend.
A very special thank you to Mrs Withers and the amazing JRPS staff who helped bring the night together. Your support and care for our students make occasions like this truly memorable.
We wish the graduating students all the very best as they move into high school — well done on reaching this milestone!
P&C Support – Boccia Celebration (IDPwD)
This week, our Support Unit hosted their annual International Day of People with Disability Boccia Celebration, welcoming students from the Crestwood High School Support Unit — including several former JRPS students returning to join in the fun. The friendly rivalry and shared cheer between both schools always creates a beautiful sense of connection, belonging and community spirit.
The P&C is proud to provide ongoing funding support for the Boccia program each year, helping ensure students have access to inclusive sport, quality equipment, and a joyful event where their achievements can shine. It’s a privilege to support a program that brings students together, builds confidence and showcases their strengths.
A huge thank you to the Support Unit staff for the enormous effort that goes into planning this event, and for welcoming the P&C to be part of such a meaningful celebration. We look forward to continuing our support of this valued program.
Introducing the 2026 P&C Executive Committee
At our recent AGM we elected the new 2026 P&C Executive Committee. Thank you to everyone who nominated, and to our outgoing Executive for the time, energy and care they have dedicated this year.
A reminder that several important positions are still open, and we would love to welcome new families to join us in 2026. Many roles can be shared, and all contributions—big or small—are truly appreciated.
We also encourage all parents to join the JRPS P&C as general members – not all members take on a specific role in the committee, but we’d love your input and collaboration to make our committee and our school as inclusive as possible and give all our children the best possible primary school experience!
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we move through Week 8 of Term 4, our P&C events for 2025 have wrapped up and we’re already planning for 2026. We’ll share next year’s event calendar early in Term 1 so families can pop dates straight into their diaries.
To the families moving on from JRPS this year, thank you for being part of our school community — we wish you all the best.
To all our JRPS families, we hope you have a safe, happy and relaxing summer break. We look forward to seeing you in the new year!

Canteen Payments
May we ask if you are paying cash for your child's order or sending spending money, where possible please send coins or smaller value notes. We have limited change available and struggle to change large notes of a morning.
Flexi Schools is a cashless option where canteen orders can be placed each day or even days/weeks in advance. This removes the worry of lost change or forgetting to hand in the order. Ordering can be done for any item on our menu including ice blocks.
If you have placed a recess order, please let your child/ren know to join the "Express Line" at the canteen to collect the order.
Lunch orders are delivered to the classroom, however, if you have ordered any of the following items, please ask your child/ren to collect them from the "Express Line" at the canteen:
Noodles
Ice Blocks
Jelly
Changes or Enquiries for Canteen Orders
Should you need to change or cancel your child's canteen order, we kindly request that instead of contacting the canteen or school directly, please reach out to our Healthy Canteens Office, where multiple staff members are available to assist you promptly. Timing: Please make any changes before 10:30 am.
