It has been a busy Term 2 at Jasper Rd and the holidays are almost upon us. I would like to thank all parents for their support throughout the term. It is lovely working with such dedicated staff and supportive, proactive parents. The students, staff and community make Jasper Rd a fantastic school. I wish everyone a warm and safe holiday break and we look forward to returning next term on Tuesday 22 July.
SUPERSTAR ASSEMBLY
Congratulations to students that were recognised last week at our Semester 1 Superstar assembly. This assembly is always one of my favourites of the year as it highlights the fantastic behaviour and academic achievements of our students. A full gallery of photos is now available on the school website.
PARENT / TEACHER CONFERENCES
It has been wonderful this week to see many parents attending Parent / Teacher Conferences. The opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and discuss the Semester 1 Academic Report and their learning behaviours is invaluable. At Jasper Rd we enjoy forging positive relationships with our parent community. If you missed out on a Parent / Teacher Conference and would like to discuss your child’s progress, please reach out to your child’s teacher in Term 3.
EDUCATION WEEK
Education Week takes place annually in Term 3 to celebrate Public Education. Each year we like to celebrate our students through the work they complete daily and their contributions and commitments outside the classroom. We have a range of activities taking place throughout the week including:
Monday 4 August – Art Display @ Grove Square
Tuesday 5 August – Open Day, Roadshow and Book Fair
Wednesday 6 August – Jeans for Genes
Thursday 7 August - Band Bonanza
More information about each event will be shared next term.
MULTICULTURAL NETBALL CARNIVALE
Our senior netball teams recently took part in the Multicultural Netball Carnivale hosted by Netball NSW. It was a fantastic day full of energy, fun, and cultural celebration.
Students participated in skills, drills, friendly games, tried their luck in a shooting competition, and enjoyed cultural experiences like henna designs and dancing. One of the highlights of the day was getting to meet players from the Giants and NSW Swifts, who took the time to chat, share advice, and take photos with the teams.
A special congratulations to our Senior Red team, who were awarded the Spirit Award for their division. This peer-voted award recognises a team that shows outstanding sportsmanship, positivity, and team spirit.
Well done to all students involved. You represented our school with pride and enthusiasm!
WINTER SEASON
As we enter the winter season, respiratory viruses such as influenza, also known as flu, are expected to rise.
NSW Health has a number of resources to support you and your family this winter:
Book your family’s flu vaccination for the best protection from getting sick. Recommended for everyone aged 6 months and over. Stay informed about vaccinations and access translated vaccine information.
Help stop the spread of cold and flu by practicing good general hygiene including:
regular handwashing for at least 20 seconds (Need a timer? Get your child to hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice);
using hand sanitiser;
covering coughs and sneezes;
cleaning frequently touched surfaces, particularly when people are sick; and
not visiting people who are at higher risk of severe illness if you have cold or flu symptoms, especially babies and older people.
Call healthdirect on 1800 022 222 for free health advice, care and treatment for non-life threatening conditions from a registered nurse. They can find you a nearby doctor, pharmacist, urgent care service or connect you to specialist virtual care.
Your child will need to stay home, if they are sick with multiple or severe respiratory symptoms, symptoms that are worsening, or other signs like fever, rash, or tiredness.
Please let us know as soon as possible if your child is sick, absent or needs to attend a medical appointment during school hours.
Our teachers are here to help your child’s continued learning and return to school once they are well enough.
Take care this winter and thank you for supporting our school community.

100 Days of Learning in Kindergarten
On Wednesday 30 July our Kinder students will celebrate a significant milestone: 100 days of learning! Reaching 100 days of school is a fantastic achievement for our young learners. It marks the culmination of their hard work, growth, and progress in their educational journey. Throughout these 100 days, our Kindergarten students have engaged in a variety of exciting activities that have helped them develop essential skills in literacy, numeracy, and social interaction.
We look forward to seeing them dressed up on the day as part of their celebration.
Education Week- Term 3 Week 3
We are looking forward to seeing many of our families at school during Education Week. This special week is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the importance of education in our lives.
This year’s theme is Ignite your potential and we have planned a series of engaging events designed to highlight the incredible work our students are doing.
We encourage all families to take part in this celebration of education. Your involvement makes a significant difference in your child’s schooling experience and helps foster a strong sense of community within our school.
Attendance
As we strive to create a positive and productive learning environment for our students, it is essential to highlight the significant impact that lateness and early departures can have on attendance and overall student success.
Arriving at school on time is crucial. A punctual start sets the tone for the day, allowing students to engage fully in their learning from the moment they enter the classroom. When students arrive late, they miss valuable instructional time, which can hinder their understanding of key concepts and disrupt their peers' learning.
Similarly, early departures can create gaps in a student's education. Students who leave school before the end of the day miss out on important lessons, discussions, and activities that contribute to their overall growth and development. This can lead to a cumulative effect on their learning and academic achievement.
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential components of building a strong educational foundation. There may be a day here and there over the year when your child is late or needs to leave early but if this is a pattern it may be good during the holidays to work on routines that will assist your child to be ready to leave on time and arrive before the school day ends. Similarly, if you have many appointments that your child needs to leave school early for, the holidays would be a good time to see if these appointments can be changed to after school or in school breaks.
The poster below shows how a few minutes a day adds up.
We encourage all families to prioritise punctuality and to make every effort to ensure that students arrive at school on time and remain for the entire school day. If there are circumstances affecting your child's ability to arrive or stay at school, please reach out to us. We are here to support you and work together to find solutions.
Thank you for your continued support.

Each fortnight we will send you instructions or a link to a "How to" guide from School Bytes. This fortnight is all about Give Consent for an event.
Lost Property
There is an overwhelming amount of lost property in the school. These items include jumpers, hats, lunch boxes, plastic containers and water bottles. We ask all parents and carers to ensure that all items are labelled with your child’s name. Also, please encourage your child to search for their lost items in the lost property bin outside, near the sick bay entrance. If not taken by end of term these items will be donated or thrown out so please have a look.
Premier’s Reading Challenge:
We have now reached 147 students who have completed the challenge. We are now over the halfway mark, to beat our way to beating our record of 286 students. Keep up all the fantastic work everyone. But, don’t worry though if you have not completed the challenge yet. It runs to the 22nd August. A huge congratulations to the following students.

Canteen Payments
May we ask if you are paying cash for your child's order or sending spending money, where possible please send coins or smaller value notes. We have limited change available and struggle to change large notes of a morning.
Flexi Schools is a cashless option where canteen orders can be placed each day or even days/weeks in advance. This removes the worry of lost change or forgetting to hand in the order. Ordering can be done for any item on our menu including ice blocks.
If you have placed a recess order, please let your child/ren know to join the "Express Line" at the canteen to collect the order.
Lunch orders are delivered to the classroom, however, if you have ordered any of the following items, please ask your
child/ren to collect them from the "Express Line" at the canteen:
Noodles
Ice Blocks
Jelly
Changes or Enquiries for Canteen Orders
Should you need to change or cancel your child's canteen order, we kindly request that instead of contacting the canteen or school directly, please reach out to our Healthy Canteens Office, where multiple staff members are available to assist you promptly. Contacting the school or canteen can disrupt lunch preparation and experience delays in communication.

Timing: Please make any changes before 10:30 am.
SMS Service: You may also use our SMS service to cancel an order. Simply text us with the following details:
School Name
Child's Name & Class
We will process the cancellation and send you a confirmation SMS.
Important Note: We regret we are unable to hold orders. Instead, cancelled orders will result in funds returning to your FlexiSchools account. This policy ensures clarity, especially in cases of delayed student returns or changes in onsite staff.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. By following these guidelines, we aim to enhance efficiency and minimise disruptions for all involved parties. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us
