Alignment principles

Alignment is more than just stating, 'Shoulders over hips, hips over knees and knees over toes.'

It is important to consider and be aware of your alignment in dynamic movements, as well as static shapes. (Dynamic = moving) The pull of gravity is the primary reason why alignment is so important for safe dance practice.

The HSC Dance syllabus defines alignment as being the relationship of the skeleton to the line of gravity and the base of support.
