Family Learning

Family learning is an approach to engaging families in learning outcomes that have an impact on the whole family.  Family Learning encourages family members to learn together as and within a family.

Family learning activities can also be specifically designed to enable parents to learn how to support their children’s learning. Family learning recognises the role of the parent as the first educator and that learning can happen anywhere, not just in the classroom.

In East Lothian,  we believe in working in partnership with our families to transform attitudes to Numeracy and Mathematics and to promote Numeracy and Mathematics as an essential skill for every career.

Our 'What you say counts' resource for parents and carers supports us to change the way we talk and think about maths.  It is designed to create a greater enthusiasm for maths and a belief that no matter our circumstances, we all have the ability to become proficient at maths.
